Guys I have to ask, I love pocket knives,I have numerous Spyderco's and I love them, I have several Kershaws and l love them, I have Esses and they are great. and I have dozens of Case knives. I even had a Benchmade Gold class 750-101 which I was less than pleased with and returned it. My question is if I buy a Sebenza will this stop my relentless purchasing of production knives. If I keep the Sebenza as a EDC with a exquisite lanyard, will this put a end to it all. Someone please answer me. Thx oh tea I have a Microtech Lund too.

by the tone of your text, I think your the perfect individual that would be underwhelmed with the sebenza. Bottom line is that it is a beautiful knife and is great all round but it still is just a knife. It can cut stuff just like the others you own. I love my sebenza, but it isnt the end all be all of knives by any means. Especially considering different knives excel in different areas.

For me my sebenza is my daily companion, and I really do love the knife. That being said I still look at other knives, and do occasionally buy them. I also really enjoy traditional blades as they fill another niche.

Summed up, to answer your question: No

Main competition for the Sebenza is the Hinderer XM-18 and Strider. I'd say it's definitely better than the Strider, at least.

IBTL.

mickeyblueyes, there are few knife nuts here that have stopped after they got a Sebenza. It is unlikely that you will either.

I buy more knives, to me the sebenza is nearly perfect, the large Insingo to be precise. My only knock against it is that it's not heat treated as hard as i'd like, so it loses it's razor edge fast, but it does keep a good working edge. I'm used to S30V being harder from spyderco and others. I love spyderco and so i'll always be buying more knives.

Great now I need a 12 step program for knives, first it was watches then pens ,then pistols, now knives. It's a god thing I like my Cummins and do not have a wandering eye for women. I was thinking a Sebenza with black micarda inlays, I just dont know the big one or the small one.. Help I am ordering in the AM, oh yes I have a Needs Work I got a deal on, received my Rake today, and am waiting for a Black and Green Bone Collector.

From the sound of your post, I think the money spent on a Sebenza for you would be better served on a custom.

I felt the same way about buying the seb. And it did, kind of. It's still my EDC, but I still buy and want to buy more knives. The seb. is as good as it gets, but you'll still want more.

no ,not any more than a large bottle of crack will help an addict who is usually used to smaller doses

I'll second the sebenza being far superior to striders. I had an SNG and hated the way it pivoted and seemed to grind as it opened and lack of smooth-ness. I also hated how it just didnt feel any better than a good $200 BM. I sold it and bought an Umnumzaan and it gets tons of pocket time. The overall quality and fit and finish is amazing. The blade is slightly less hard than normal S30V blades but i have never had a problem with it staying sharp or anything. To be honest it has been 9 months since I bought the Zaan and it has never been sharpened or touched up even and i actually cut myself with it yesterday. That being said, If you want something that has flair or flash or anything I would reccomend a Brian Tighe Nirk Tighe or similar as I have a Nirk Tight and I love it and its a great user too.

I say the bradley alias or alias 2 is a good contender. Almost the same knife and for a lot less. I'd say bradley's reputation is as good as chris reeves

I have a Sebenza, XM-18, and Lionsteel SR-1.

I'm still not satisfied .

And is it just me, or do the Sebenza's handles scuff up pretty easily? The only other titanium handle knife that had such serious scuffings from occasional carry was my BM 755 MPR. It's not like the scuffs are deep or anything, but it's a bit annoying and kind of clashes with my unique graphics and cabochan in the handle:grumpy:.

I'm not knocking the Sebie in any way cause I have a few myself but I've been happier with my Spyderco Gayle Bradley than any knife I've bought in a long time. Fit, finish, and operational smoothness is on the Sebenza level and the M4 steel in the Gayle is far ahead of the Sebie's S30V steel.

How do you like the SR-1? I'm looking into getting one. I agree with the scuffing but for me its a working knife so I just attest it to the use I put it through. Otherwise its one of my favorites. Where did you get the SR-1 from?

I believe I bought it from KnifeArt.

It's a nice knife. I don't end up using it all that often though. First reason probably has to do with the fact that it's not exactly easy to open and close. I know I've complained about my XM-18 being almost too loose with literally no detent, but looking back on it, I find that preferable to a framelock that makes your thumb sore just by disengaging it. There is a touch more blade play than the Sebenza, but no more than my XM-18.

I guess the tradeoff is the one-piece titanium construction in lieu of a bushing pivot.

Still, the finish of the Sebenza's titanium hardware is unusually "rough". I find smoother bead blasts on my Speedform and ZT 0551, both of which don't seem to scuff as easily as my Sebbie did. The apparent cause of which was a light brush against the pocket clip of my Spyderco Para2 S90V and Carbon Fiber(yes, I carry two knives at work in the same pocket).
