Sebenza vs:??????

Guys I have to ask, I love pocket knives,I have numerous Spyderco's and I love them, I have several Kershaws and l love them, I have Esses and they are great. and I have dozens of Case knives. I even had a Benchmade Gold class 750-101 which I was less than pleased with and returned it. My question is if I buy a Sebenza will this stop my relentless purchasing of production knives. If I keep the Sebenza as a EDC with a exquisite lanyard, will this put a end to it all. Someone please answer me. Thx oh tea I have a Microtech Lund too.

I thought buying a plain large Sebenza might quench my thirst for buying knives. Now I own 10 Sebenzas.

I might buy a new truck, before I buy 10 Sebs. Or at least the down payment .or I might buy 9 Seb and 9 really nice lanyards.

Yes I really like my Spydies but when I got my 1st Small Seb. that was it and now I have 3 small and 3 large and all Graphic's and I rotate them and the rest of my knives just are Safe Queens and will stay that way.!
I have a few Customs but even they don't compare to the CRK's in anyway sort or form. If it is not a Seb. then it sits locked up and waiting for the day to come when I sell them all and keep my Seb's ! You just kind find a better knife with the work that goes into a Seb. Graphic. Enough said.*!
I do have a "few" KB/Bckrs that I like but they are all together a different kind of knife to use and abuse.!!*

I bought my Sebenza and love it but it doesn't stop there. I just got a Demko custom which is awesome but I will still buy more.

The Umnumzaan is probably my favorite production knife and I prefer it to the Sebenza, however it definatly does not stop my obsession with knives.

I once had a guy trade me a new in box Sebenza for a Bradley Alias 1.

I have a sebenza, a hinderer XM-18, and a Strider SnG and I love them all equally and even though I own these I also own many spyderco's and benchmade's so I agree that you would be underwhelmed with a sebenza. You have to get the knife because you want it not because you feel it will complete a collection because it most certainly will not.

I prefer the Galyean pro series knives.

The Hinderer is a combination of Strider form factor and seb prescion. But considering the price point, build quality, form factor and presicion craftsmanship I would have to pick the Galyean pro series overall.

Heck they are all cool. Get all 4. Then continue to use your beater Spyderco and BM's like I do. HA HA HA!

Galyean Pro Series are very nice knives, but I doubt we will be seeing many if any more of them. Tim seems to have abandoned his forum here and I understand the series along with it.

I bought my sebenza, then the zaan before the seb even arrived.
The zaan outshines the seb IMO.
I have since bought a ESEE Izula and 5p to use as beaters.

I'm soooo sick of buying Benchmades and finding bullshit problems with everyone of them. I could write about all of my findings, but i KNOW all of you know what i'm talking about.

Basically, i'm moving on from them....my Spyderco's have been waaay better in fit and finish...(gayle bradley, para2 etc...)

I just placed an order for a large 21 from CRK and i'm friggin pumped! Three week wait:(

I too share the same concerns as the original poster....will this end my knife addiction!! I'm running out of excuses to tell my wife! help!

I would love to get a Locsha, but they seem to be very scarce, and Scott Cook is no longer taking orders.

I bought a small sebenza, and that stopped it all for me.

After a long time without a new knife, I just bought a Strider which came earlier today. Alas I think it's back to the shop, the Sebenza is still the king for me I suppose. Although I must say, I like the mini griptilians very much, and also the sage 1. Both of which I think are on par with the Sebenza as far as my tastes go.

edit: I also love this strider, I just think it's too small for my ape hands.

I guess to be on bladeforums is to be somewhat addicted to knives. What has worked for me at least right now its to find a knife that you really like in your current collection and put everything else away! I bought a Sprint CF S90V para 2 this past fall and was really digging it. However, I wasn't using it. Oh I'd carry it around and look at how pretty the carbon fiber is and what not, but no use. I would actually carry 2 knives just so that when a cutting task came up I could use the other knife instead of my Para. I guess a cure for me has been to pick 1 knife per month. Keep only that knife out and put every other one back in the little boxes, and out of sight. When you do that and actually use your 1 knife you realize that you really like it and there is little need for another. At least for me it has somewhat diminished my incessant desire to pick up other blades. Especially because I know that there are few others out there that can compare with my current.

Idk about you guys. Buying a sebenza may work, but only if you STAY OFF OF BLADEFORUMS! All this site does is encourage more and more knife purchasing. Not a bad thing when you have the extra dough, but when stuff is tight one must think rationally. It's my guess that if you are just looking for another knife to satisfy your knife buying craves, it's not going to work.

After I bought my para, dropping $200 for it, I bought a salt 1 and a mini griptilian(both are some of my favorites for edc. I love the salt since I don't have to worry about taking care of the blade, and I love the mini grip too since its fun to play with and its ambi. im a lefty). I guess my realization was that I was using these cheaper $50 knives and buying lots of them because I didn't want to damage my really nice knife. If you can get past yourself to actually use your $350+ CRK Sebbie, then power to you and you will most likely stop buying knives for a while. Until of course you see something else that really catches your eye.

At some point, I too am looking to get a CRK. My family thinks I'm crazy to spend $350 on a knife. Only my mom who has her eyes set on some really nice $200+ kitchen knives understands where I come from. But I guess the main reason is that I want a knife that is actually lefty. All of my folders are either designed ambi or I have to adapt.

It ain't gonna stop though since I saw a Yuna QI the other day and when I contacted him he said that I could get one made lefty. (drooling)

IN CONCLUSION:

I wish you luck good sir on your plausibly futile attempts at controlling this hobby of your life. Find some bros who like knives just as much as you do, and you'll just have a grand old time

LOL @ orchunter^^^ thanks..good post!

I'm already looking at Striders, and I just place my order a few days for the 21....i'm screwed

Nice to see another lefty.

I'd definitely give CRK a go if you want to try a true left-handed knife. I hated liner/frame/RIL locks until I finally got a left-handed Sebenza. Then I finally understood why people liked them so much.

I carried a BM 943 for several years, then went through a succession of several Axis lock BM's and several Spyderco's. Last year, I bought a LH Sebenza, then a LH Umnumzaan two weeks later. The only other knife I've been drooling over was a Para2, and after picking one up two months ago, I've come to realize that I mainly EDC CRK's.

Long story short, I'd honestly recommend getting a Sebenza or Umnumzaan, especially if you are a lefty, because it's going to save you money in the long run. Had I foregone the BM's and Spyderco's, I could have saved a lot of money. Which isn't to say that BM or Spyderco doesn't make one hell of a knife.
