Sebenza, worth it?

A quick search will provide literaly thousands of opinions on this knife. I for one would spend the time to get a Hinderer XM-18 but many worship the sebenza (yes, worship). A good way to find out for yourself would be to watch the passaround forums for the sebenza'a next round.

Think of a Sebenza as a pocket-sized folding sculpture with one sharp edge very purposely left intact.
Worth every penny IMHO.......I have both lg. and sm. c.g.g. Sebenzas as well as a ziracote Mnandi and a full-size Green Beret.

Things are worth what people will pay for them and everyone must make up their own mind regarding the value of an object. I, for one, think that the sebs are worth the money. I have 5 of them, I will trade or sell some of them, but will always have one or more.

Well, I've had 3 of them and sold them all within a week. They are a superbly crafted knife, but just too plain for the price for me. And I like more ergonomic knives then that. But, it still doesn't stop me from wanting to get a custom graphic one made some day.

I've had a small classic for about 3 months now. The size is really ideal for edc. The quality is extreme. It is only my second frame lock. The very nature of a frame lock seems so solid. Is it worth it? I think so. I've pissed away so much money on useless stuff. Look at the price of a new car which will last 5-6 years. A Sebenza will last several lifetimes.

I am not a rich man, the sebenzas(large classic sebenza, small regular sebenza, and mnandi) make me even poorer. But...

Yes, it worth it.

The most important reason is: it is easy to be sharpened! I am not very good at sharpening knife... well, in fact, I am very dull in sharpening knife. But sebenza has the magic, I can sharpen it easily. Because sebenza is the only knife that I can sharpen for myself, of course it worth it.

Can anyone tell me is a Sebenza really worth the money? Im thinking fo getting a large regular one. Wondering if it will be too big for carry, awkward? worth it?

It is hard to say if it is worth it or not but I don't think it is. I have owned 4-5 of them in both large and small. They are quite heavy considering that they are made out of Ti. I have used them and to tell the truth, they don't cut as well as many other knives with better blade geometry.

The laser art is unique and some of them look really good, though I don't think of them for a edc more of a put on the shelf and show it off now and then.

The small is good for office carry but I never had an issue with carrying a large either. Here's the only large I kept after having 5 or 10 in my Sebbie collection height. I think most of the Unique Custom Graphic ones look like accidents but this is one of the few that looks like it was done on purpose.

excellent choice , great blade shape , strong lock , hollow grinds ( which I prefer ) , tip up carry ( a requirement for me ) ,

I never found the large to be obtrusive to carry , perhaps because it carries so flat. The small is downright handy , I found the Strider PT felt better in my hand , I prefer the large Seb over the small.

The finish on the blade wears like Iron and the contruction is so well designed that I found no matter how many times I took it apart , cleaned it , and reassembled , it always went together right , with no fiddling needed.

The price might spook some at first , but 10 years later when you are using the same knife , you will look back on the day you bought it and smile.

I rotate my carrying between four Large Sebbies and a Korth. I really do not think it is an addiction or "worship", but a matter of pride of ownership. When you buy a Sebenza, you get a quality knife designed for hard use but also looks good and has top shelf finish. I like the to carry the Large, never owned a small and probably will not. The Lg. do just fine. I do use the clip all the time though as it would send me into fit of rage to misplace or drop it out of site. That is the chance you take though when using these for what they are meant for, hard@$$ working!

How is the secondary market for Sebbies? If you can try it out for a year and if you take care of it get all your money back you had one of the worlds nicest folders for a year for free.

Well, thank you everyone for your input. It is very appreciated.

Sincerely in Christ's love,
John
