Secession of UK from EU, UK to be US protectorate.

Dave I haven't been able to see the posts for a few days. Actually, even though it may seem to off topic a discussion of our various ways of life very reasonabley centers around the posession of weapons. (Note to Uncle Bill: See? got 'em right back on track!)

BTW, What's a man with a good Scottish name like Innes doing in Burnley? And, does absinthe make the heart grow fonder?

heh

It's a long story, Steve, and a very boring one. Basically, My pop is a South African, married my mom (English), I get to be born in Malasia. Went round the world with family (dad is a military pilot), then join brit army for six years, mostly in Germany and NI. Leave the Army: No roots, nowhere to go. Met a chick on a train and (ahem) formed a relationship very quickly. Liked her. Went home with her to meet her folks. Stayed in Burnley, the 'Pearl of the North'. Got divorced. Burnley has cheap housing, soft water and easy women. Stayed. Link to Scottish descent ended, ooh, about five generations ago. Just a mongrel now.
Absinthe, don't go near that stuff, ever. Death in a bottle.
Uncle Bill! This thread has very little to do with khukuri's. It became a discussion about personal freedom, right to bear arms and so on, but only briefly. I reckon you should delete the thread. Still, it has been a good laugh!

David, with all due respect my good fellow, there has been many controversial discussions in this forum. I cannot ever recall any of them being locked nor any post deleted. And there have been threads here that would have quickly deteriorated to pure bedlam in any other forum unless a moderator closed it down.

We all come here knowing Uncle Bill's Rules Of Conduct and Uncle Bill being the quality of gentlman that he is and the respect that we all have for him, that line is never crossed.
I should say "not in my memory."
And I pray that the day never comes when any of us should see such a thing in this forum.

The best way, imo, to avoid confrontation is to not reply when something has made one angry.

Yvsa, I bow to your greater knowledge of the forum. I withdraw my request. Yvsa, to be honest, this seems to be a big old bag of worms that I started just as a joke, which turned out to be not so funny. I have found myself being insulting to other contributors and getting emotional about abstract issues, stuff that happened (or didn't happen) 400-ish years ago, also about relatively recent UK politics... Now, I don't think this is a good way to make friends. I guess I'm somewhat embarrassed by my postings, which is why I asked what I did.
David
PS: saw your inventory. Very impressed!

To be best of my knowledge I have deleted only two threads out of 30,000 and this one does not merit deletion.

And, the right to bear arms and personal freedom has everything to do with khukuris.

Conduct on this thread has been just fine and you need not apologize for anything, anybody.
