I need an idea of which style blade to make on the second run of Tachyons. My thoughts right now are between a Kris and a Nemesis style blade. Both will cost more than the regular production run. I am not sure by how much more but I doubt more than $50.

The Nemesis style would be just like the original Nemesis only made to fit the Tachyon handle.

The Kris would have a blood groove similar to the Nemesis running the length of the blade.

I know it may be hard to visualize and voting will be difficult without a reference but right now I just want an idea of which design to persue.

TIA for the help :)

Think carefully, folks.

A Kris, while very dramatic, is a very single-purpose blade. Furthermore, sharpening a Kris is a bear.

You will be able to buy "Just the blade" after the initial production, however a limited number of blades will be made and there will be NO guarantee that the blade you desire will be available. All depends on supply -vs- demand.

In other words we are not making blades to order. When I make future orders I will order a certain amount of extra blades. When these blades are sold out there will be no more until I make them again which could be a LONG time.

I don't know what the Nemesis blade looks like, but the Kris just doesn't do anything for me. I've heard good things about the Nemesis, so I'll take that style.

I voted for the Nemesis blade because it is still oriented towards a fighting blade, like the Kris, and the Kris can be done after.

The Nemesis blade is a very wicked blade. Everyone will like it.

A blood groove in a Kris sounds neat but I voted for the Nemesis.....but only if you make a Kris next!!!:D

I voted Nemesis, but this brings up a question I've wondered about: When manipulating balisongs I frequently hit the back of my hand. Is that just my lack of practice, and if so is it just tough noodles if you do this with a dagger blade? OR is it half sharpened on that side?

Pardon my insurmountable ignorance...:D

Is the Nemesis double edged? Elvislives, just saw your post after I posted the first sentence--good question.

AHH!!!!! I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE I'D WANT MORE!!!!

and Elvislives- I'm not positive, but I'm almost positive that both blade styles are double-edged. I want one solely for coolness factor. All you can really do as far as manipulations are basics and throws. Unless you practice with a double-bladed and get good at it

I hope it's double edge; it just wouldn't be a Nemesis if it wasn't...... Elvis, you need to practice not letting the blade hit the back of your hand!;)

argh. But I really want one of these blades without having to spend another $200 :p

well anyway, IF you do end up selling just the blades, put me down for one of whatever ends up the victor :D
both are just tooooooooo sweet. I'm DYING to see the Kris with a fuller

Hello Dawkind,
Okay, I just got out an old double edged Taylor; your sure it's possible not to get cut? Ouch! Well, it will look pretty cool. Ouch! Darn knife.

No. It's just that that's what you've practiced. For single-edged blades, that's fine.

and if so is it just tough noodles if you do this with a dagger blade?

Until you learn to manipulate the knife without doing this, I'd suggest you avoid anything double-edged.

BTW, a double-edged blade limits your manipulation potential. Adding that second edge moves the knife way away from show and much more toward go

OR is it half sharpened on that side?

That's sometimes done. One of the BM custom profiles was a modified spearpoint on which one side was only sharpened about 2/3 of the way back. But, a proper kris would never be done that way and a Nemesis done this way wouldn't be a Nemesis.

BTW, a bloodgrove on a kris would be an extremely difficult thing to do on a stock-removal blade. The grove and the now two median ridges would have to ungulate with the edges. Oh, and of course, I'd want it hollow ground.

BTW, if they do a Nemesis in Tachyon, then I expect them to go back and do the kris in an OTF auto too. It's only fair that way.

I voted for the kris tachyon. Putting a Nemesis blade on a Tachyon removes its identity among all the Microtechs, it wouldn't standout anymore. I want something unique, if it's not a kris it should be something different. Anyway, Microtech started something different from all the balisongs with the Tachyon.

Just squeezing in my 1 vote. :)

Seems I have evened out the votes:p
Anyway I think a Kriss while not very multi-purposed would be great. That and the nemesis blade goes to the nemesis.

shut up, Chuck ;) :D

and I partially voted for kris because I'd really like to see how a kris with a blood groove is going to look.
