Second Spyderco???

I have both the Dragonfly (ZDP-189 version) and the Caly 3 (CF/ZDP-189) and I love them both. Can't go wrong. Cehck out the PM2 and Manix 2 as well. Manix 2 is my favorite Spydie.

When I was trying to get my long list down to something sensible (whatever that is), I chose the Para 2 + the Dragonfly 2 to get started. Then the "last knife viewed = new want" disease ensued. I fight it off with a Rx of distraction and face slapping.

By the way, if that beautiful collection posted above ever needs a good home, I'm here for you. I can provide a loving and caring environment and they would be well fed and looked after. Just sayin...

Maybe try a Spyderco slipjoint.... like the Squeek?
Fantastic little knife, great ergo's that make it function so you don't miss a lock at all.

This is so true also maybe ukpk although I don't have one yet...

I have a caly 3.5, and It is a wonderful little knife. It feels super solid and very slick, I think the g10 handles and the gentleman's knife aesthetics would make it a nice complement to your Delica.

flarp,
The green handled knife, Benchmade I think, how do you like it? I've seen before, but appeared much larger, nice.

That is a Benchmade 940. It is a great EDC knife. Very slim/compact, yet it packs a nearly 3.5" blade. I go back and forth between that and the Ritter Mini-Grip as my favorite Benchmade knife. The only thing I am not crazy about on the 940 is the bright neon purple backspacer. Everything else about that knife is great.

thanks all for your answers to the questions I asked!! you all are so knowledgeable, I really appreciate it! I think im going to save up for a caly 3 or sage 1 and in the mean time pick up a dragonfly 2 to keep me company until then!

well maybe ill be there some day.. i only have one spyderco and can already feel the addiction setting in.... hah I love even just looking at pictures people post on here of their knives or collections. i find myself smiling at the computer haha

Wow thanks for all the quick replies!

Knoefz- that squeak looks like it would melt in your hand, I definitely agree that with smaller knives with great ergos, you don't even need a lock. Have you had any experience with the spyderco pingo at all? If so how would you compare it to the squeak? I'm kind of intrigued by the look of the pingo.

No experience here with the Pingo, it look like a great little knife though. A minature Rock Lobster.
Pro for the squeek is that it's one handed opening works really well where the Pingo was not designed to be a one handed opening knife.

I didn't see a budget mentioned so hopefully this isn't going backwards. 95% of my working knives are fixed blade but every now and again I like/need to slip something inside my pocket. In an effort to see if a folder using a stout but short blade would be useful around work and the farm I picked up a Spyderco Ambitious. I would love to see this model made in the USA but it is what it is. Having said that, the knife worked extraordinarily well...enough so that I questioned myself for never having invested in a good pocket knife prior. That was about a year ago and I've since switched it for the CAT-G10 model (I broke the Ambitious tip pulling a staple from the electric fence) but the ergonomics and intended use are much the same.

Short, powerful blades that take a wicked edge and HOLD IT are great for true EDC (working) knives. Combined with a small Lansky Blade Medic (if I know I'm out for the day I keep it handy) and then a high quality Fiskars 17" Hatchet with a Kydex sheath that I keep inside the tool box that sits next to the tractor seat...there really isn't anything I can't accomplish throughout my day.

Your search is a good one

I'd suggest the Dragonfly 2. It comes in some cool colors and it is as useful as knives twice its size and four times its weight, in my experience. It is the only knife you'll catch me with in NYC. Get a couple of them. You won't regret it. I bought two for myself and one for my dad so he can open mail with a tool that works instead of a pen.

Yea im really liking the looks of the Dragonfly, I think the color of the G-10 is a really nice natural color that seems to really flow with the knife. Im not too worried about weight so the G-10 with liners is what I will go with over the FRN. I do love the FRN of my Delica though. Spyderco just does it right! I have also been looking a lot at the Pingo who's blade shape really caught my attention. I dont mind the two handed opening because from what Ive read and seen it can easily be moded with thumbstuds to make it one hand opening. I have also seen some really cool looking mods done with this knife giving it stonewash blade and G10 scales...

Basically the Dragonfly 2 is a knife I would get and keep it as it is and the Pingo is one I would get and hopefully get modded to my liking.. I would just have to find a modder who would do an awesome job at a price I could afford

22-rimfire- that zt 0770cf is an awesome looking knife but I like my blades to be around the 3" or less mark. If they made that exact knife in a slightly smaller package I would be all over it!

I think if you tried EDCing a larger knife you would never go back to sub-3inchers. I have/owned dozens of smaller knives (Delica, Native 5, Small Sebenza, Bone Collector 15030, various Kershaws, etc), and they all tend to sit in the drawer while I grab a Stretch 90% of the time. At 3.5", it fits between the Delica and the Endura, but just fits the hand perfectly. A Para2 is also nice size, but not as slim.

Maybe they call it "Stretch" to get you to try it!!!
