More and more, I find myself wanting to buy knives from a "custom" maker (I don;t know if "custom" is the right term). I dont make knives but I work with my hands and, thusly, like many here, have at least a little understanding what it's like to think about the end customer while making his knife"! Every little detail ("What will he think about that? Will he see it? Is it acceptable..to me? Man, I hope they like this one?" etc etc). I've been hankering for alot of the custom blades I see here, knowing they'll be made where they say they're made!!! and knowing I'll be investing in a people and place that is very important to me.
I think I'm working myself into a decision: to stop buying commercial for awhile, and invest in some customs! I have one that a great American (and fellow forumite) is making for me right now, it should be done in January sometime, my first ever "custom". Now, I want one of yours too, Stomper.
This is a sad thread, but a good one. Kind of like what's happening in America... it's both sad yet, hopefully, enlightening.
Stick around John, or come back in from time to time with a few pics of recent projects. And NAME the guy who burned you. That's only fair to you, to us, and to him! Maybe it'll at least lead to a resolution............
