seeking the perfect folder

The new Lionsteel SR1 flipper has everything you want except it's made in Italy and not the USA

Well I made up this post before I read your details. I just responded to your title. I'm not going to change the post. Still, even after all that . . . do consider these. Even for stabbing the Case is very competent because the but of the handle is large and solid and really sits in your palm so is braced there rather than the finger guard. The more I have finger guards the more I am convinced they are in the way for most everyday use. Stabbing . . . you mean piercing a bag or tough rubber coated cloth material . . . yah I do that all the time with the case slip joint; never a problem. Or by stabbing you mean people, through chain mail, to save the damsel . . . do that a lot do you ? Well stop it. That's not good.
:)

Perhaps the second choice is still in the hunt for you. Any way here 't is :
seeking the perfect folder
That might be between the Case Stag Trapper

or the Spyderco Endura 4. I like a little length in a good allarouder. Top knife in this photo

How to make the Case Trapper better . . . remove the spay blade. Makes for a better cleaner grip

How to make the Endura better . . . that is super easy . . . get the one with ZDP-189 steel. (which is the one shown above but any of them will do).

Find a knife that you like and give it a try! You never know until that knife is in your hands if you will like it or not. It is best to stick with some of the top brands if warranty is a concern. Certain knives are popular for a reason!!

This one meets all your requirements except for locking in the closed position...

Good luck, OP! :)

you say you work on a farm? have you tried a Spyderco paramilitary 2? comes in many variation's of steel, don't think any in d2 but most of them are better than d2.

add the compression lock, great jimping and ergonomics with an extremely sharp slicing blade it's very good.

Doesn't lock in the closed position tho. You may want something else but seriously consider the option (manix2 is also amazing and offered in many blade steel types, it may have a more preferred blade design and lock type, also doesnt lock in the closed position tho).

Would it make sense to just get a small fixed blade to use instead of a folder?
