Seems like Spyderco made enough 15V for the market

I am noticing the new 15v Manix 2 LW are mostly avail through retailers and ebay. Also can find the Microjimbo and Para 3 g10 so far. Only the G10 Shaman and Para Military versions are harder to find for retail prices.

Glad the community can get their hands on some 15V.

I noticed retailers is the best way to get one of the 15v, as Spyderco charges much more. No discount for sprint runs. I have a military 2 on the way.

I'm just glad they finally put it in a folder I can live with. My Manix 2 LW arrived this morning.

Supposedly up to 5000 of/all the latest 15V models, instead of the original 1200 for all Sprint runs! That’s why Para 3(LW and G10), Military 2, And Microjimbo are still available. Softer market too.

I think the only one that actually sold out from this new batch of models, far as I can tell, is the Para 3 LW. But it's been really nice not having to stress about being able to get one this time compared to the original PM2/Manix/Shaman drops. Thanks Spyderco for making enough for everyone before 15V (possibly) disappears forever without Crucible.

15V is gone after the sale of Crucible. What's left is all there will be for the foreseeable future. It really is the best time to get one before they are gone for good and you have to pay aftermarket prices for one.

It's a very high wear resistance tool steel with roughly M390-level toughness. For wear resistance it's really only lagging Maxamet and Rex 121.

The BBB/Spyderco heat treat in particular seems to be dialed in to get the most out of the steel, maximizing that wear resistance without getting too chippy. Also lots of good reports on how cleanly it sharpens with proper abrasives.

Nothing's required, just pushing the boundaries a little further.

Not required at all. It's entirely optional. That said, I have read that 15V steel may be going away, possibly forever, so now is the best chance to get a knife made with it.

I don't know guys .... ~65 HRC and lots of reports on chipping and required factory edge resharpening. I guess I'll stay with my Rex45 Spidies if I want high HRC. Never had a corrosion issue with them either.

Just my personal choice. I do appreciate BBB's work, and new steels in general, of course. And more 10V knives wouldn't be bad either.

Yes it is very abrasion resistant and does very well in the CATRA test, which means it stands up to silica-embedded card stock quite well. But in my use in mixed media (cardboard, plastic, rope, and wood) I can't tell any difference between it and K390, and I find K390 easier to sharpen (I get a very stubborn burr with 15V). I have the Para 3 LW but have no inclination to buy another 15V knife.

K390's good. 15V's good. (So far, it's sharpened well for me on the Military 2 - we'll see how the Manix goes.)

So long as Spyderco keeps doing the one in Seki and the other in Golden in models from both places that I like, I'm happy to keep buying both and not have to choose between the two.
