My go to carry piece is the Sig 220, I figure if I can't get out of trouble with the 8 rounds I have another 6-8 won't matter. PS. sounds like Happy Valley has gotten a little rougher lately.

I was really happy w/ my Springfield 1911A1, which I sold for a H&K USP compact .40, which I sold for a full frame .40, which I sold for a Kimber custom TLE/RL II
and now I'm reeeealy happy :)

it is eather going to be the HK or a S&W 500 ;)

Took the words outa my mouth! 500 FOR SURE!!! that 4" stubby barrel model will definately get the job done!! Forget hearing anything for a few days, that ported model will make you deafer than whoknowswhat if fired during the attack/defense. I always got a kick outa those bear defense kits S&W has been sellin. At least you get a waterproof case with the deal. Dunno how well the emergency blanket works though.

Knife fights are difficult to win...if you must carry a knife.. get a cheap gerber from acamedy.. if you get in a fight.. throw it at your attacker and run like hell!!

If a guy is looney enough ot attack you a public bus station.. chances are he is not afraid of your knife... especially since they look so much smaller in the dark.

Weirdly enough.. the most 'effective' knife offense is one they never see...meaning before they know you have one it is sticking in their eye socket. For that matter an ink pen will do just fine.. as they never expect it. You can more easily kill a person with a 2 cent pencil as you can with a $1000 custom knife.. and the jury is more likely to believe you were acting in self defense.

Self defense is a peculiar thing....

btw.. learned all this in the Army.. when you begin to realize there is a difference betwen fighting and killing.. they are not the same thing. Sit in a bed at night in basic training and realize you just learned how to kill someone with a pencil.. very sobering.

Another thing to think about.. that old saying about better to be judged by 12 than burried by 6.. is not so cool when serving a 30 sentence.

When I was a kid people used to sharpen their belt buckles and stand off and whail at each other. My dad ran the rescue squad for the fire dept...used to tell stories of people getting sliced.

He had a call one time where a guy walked into a bar.. walked over to a man on a bar stool.. put a straight razor against the guy.. and spun him. Dad said the guys guts and globs of fat were all over the floor.

If you want to carry a knife .. best is to carry one that a jury won't think twice that it was a defense weapon.. and a custom made super damascus dagger in a kydex sheath is not that.

Hmm. What does a defensive weapon (knife) look like? I wouldn't think someone who was looking to do bad things would do it with a $200 Custom Knife.

That is a very good question.. the way it was put to us was when you are an 'average' person (not a rebel with a cause) on jury duty.. and you see a 'weapon'... what do you think?.. and that is what you should choose.

I was taking a concealed handgun class. .and the DA came in as a guest speaker and spoke on this topic related to handguns. Basically it was you can get a super nice HK USP and carry it around (if you can conceal it).. or you can get something from wal mart / academy (aka a dinky revolver). The idea was that in the end no matter what you have to either convince the DA (not to prosecute) or the jury (not to convict) that what you armed yourself with was a weapon for 'defense only'... self protection. and not some person looking for a fight.

Personally I think everyone should be able to pack whatever heat they want.. we just live in a country of laws that like it or not.. we have to play the game to be in the game.

btw.. interesting story.. in that class the same DA told us a story of a concealed weapon individual that went to prizon. He was in a stop-and-rob standing next to the counter getting his coke.. and another person pulled a gun and told the cashier to give him the money.. the concealed weapon person pulled his gun attempting to stop the robber.. and the robber shot the clerk. The concealed weapon person went to prizon.. the jury found he was guity because if he had not pulled his weapon.. the robber might not have shot the clerk. Sucks.....that is the crazy legal system we have to deal with.

on the other hand.. was in the news some time ago here in Texas ( I think).. a guy shot 2 people crawling in his neighbours window.. and he got off.. (yah hooo!!).
