Sell me on a Strider

I've never owned a Strider, and I'm not certain I will. I've read or heard of far too many quality issues regarding blade play and lock up to justify $400+. I don't hear nearly the amount of issues the ZT Strider collaborations, and I tend to think that is because of the ZT quality control. Love the look of the different Strider models available, but I think if I get something that has Strider on it, it'll be a ZT or a Strider fixed blade, atleast with the fixed blade, they can't jack up the lock bar.

BTW if getting your money back is an issue get the strider I have already been offered what I paid, and it does not look like they will ever lose value..

they have Sebenza like loyalty..

I have three Striders that are all fantastic - But the best advice is to not have others sell you or dissuade you.

If you are curious enough to invest in one and don't like it, you will get 95% to 98% of your money back in all likelihood if you choose to sell it.

I DON'T own a Strider, and I may never.
Supposedly, the new generation SNG's aren't as much of a gamble as the older, but it's hard to get full price for a knife that is notorious for lockup issues....not to mention the sketchy reputation that will haunt Strider forrrrreeeeevvvvveeeeerrrrr.
Strider and Microtech both fall in my "Don't Buy" category for their unethical business practices alone.
Their prices just push me even further in the opposite direction.
After owning a CRK, anything in that price range has some huge shoes to fill anyway.

I have several Striders, and all are fantastic.

Since yu are curious, just buy one. If you don't like it, sell it, you WILL get your money back.

I'm a fan of Emerson CQC-7's. A favorite of the Seals and SpecOps teams, including British SAS, for several decades. Ernie developed the Wave feature himself, which is an extremely-rapid deployment of the blade, and relates that "invention" in this very enjoyable video. You will see Ernie's entire line of knives, including Commanders, etc. so I would advise that you watch this. And yes, I watched this video yesterday, and ordered a Emerson CQC-7 variant this afternoon. He made me into a believer of 154CM, even though I've been quick to jump on the newest and latest super-steels...
I would reco that you watch this GUNSNFANCY YouTube video from the 2012 Shot Show.

If you've ever met any Special Ops people, you'd notice that they're more likely carrying a Benchmade folder.

IMO don't waste your money, you can buy five awsome quality knives for the price of one Strider, I cannot justify buying a knife that has the same materials of a Spyderco or Kershaw/ZT at a 500$ price point, the only production company I'd fork over anything more than 200$ to is CRK the Sebenza and Mnandi models are extraordinary, and they are 10 times more suited for every day cutting tasks :) *don't kill me for my harsh opinion :P *

I have three striders. An slcc, SMF, and an SJ75s. I love them and always will. Try one and if you don't like it, sell it.

That folder, the CQC-6, has been Ernie's design since the late-80's. After being approached by Benchmade, who sought a collaboration, Emerson instead licensed a similar design of the CQC-6 to Benchmade (for factory production), called the CQC-7, after 1994.
An automatic version of the CQC-7 is sold by Pro-Tech today in collaboration with Emerson.

It never fails ..someone asks a simple question about a Strider knife and the ugly comes
Out! Its strange? This is the only forum I hear people fussing about Striders! And better
Yet!! EVERY SINGLE FRICKIN TIME! I see striders name mentioned ya'll start dogging him
Out. Just call the dude up..meet with him,,and settle your damn differences!!
Heck..I'm sure Mick would be happy too meet you !!:D

IMO anything negative that someone has to say about Mickey Ray has only been brought on by himself and his actions. You shoot yourself in the foot then you're going to have to deal with the consequences. I don't try to bring his shame about in these threads. I do however always tell about my experiences with Strider knives and my experiences have been mostly on the negative end. I've owned them and I wasn't impressed. I am impressed with the ZT0300 so I suggest that instead.

Looking back, I'd say there are more nuetral and go for it posts than "the ugly". Anyone has the right to post their opinion in this forum under the rules set forth by the owner.

Many here love their Striders, me being one of them. I'm also a Navy Veteran and served admirably IMHO.

I chose to buy the knife and not the MFG and I choose not to wrangle over the past. Others may not and that is their prerogative.

It's admirable that you choose to defend Mick but as much as it pains many of us sometimes, everyone has the right to form their own opinions. Free speech and freedom to think for oursleves can be frustrating sometimes but that comes with the territory . . .

Every individual should be free to have and form their own opinions and feelings but this shouldn't be about this forum anymore than it shouldn't be about the toxic green place.

Have a great day! :)

Good point Reeek.
The variety of opinions are what make this forum so fun to follow.
Fanboy and Hater alike...on with the argument.
Deadhorse beating is welcome too.

Get a crk instead lol. Forget strider.

This, Ive owned a couple of Striders and still have an SNG. I love the design but barely use it, not really a slicer. Out of three Striders I had one where the screw just came loose on its own and another with blade play. The one with the screw problem was new and the other used. CRK quality though you can always rely one, love the design of the Seb and will never sell mine. Just my opinion :)

I Ebayed my last Strider a few days ago for $120 less than it was new, so "No Depreciation" is BS.
My experience with them was not bad overall, I actually went to their shop a few times when I lived near San Diego...
