Sell me on an ESEE 6.....

hello knifeability... i actually was interested in this thread to see your post here... you are the reason why my first knife was the RC6... your trust in this knife opened my eyes to a really good knife...

i reecnlty bought the RC3... and both knives are awesome man...

i haven't seen any of your posts lately... everything ok???

I am great. I have been bonding with my knife up at ST. Mary's Glacier Colorado this past week. Thanks for the whats up man, how are you? I like my ESEE-6 more everyday and cannot seem to get it off my hip anymore.

I just received my ESEE 6 via UPS yesterday it is a great knife! Well balanced, fit and finish are excellent, great ergonomics, super sharp edge and even the jimping on the kydex sheath is functional and works great! The 5 is a thicker blade and is heavier but I prefer the full flat grind and balance of the 6.

I would suggest that you seriously consider the Junglas. If money is an issue, you would be better off to save for bit to get the Junglas versus getting something else now.

i got a 6 and love it.i ordered bk2 yesterday and already looking to replace the scales on it before even have the knife.i saw the becker interview and wanted one.back to my point it looks like $40.00 to get what i want ,so add that to the price.i don't like the looks of the sheath will probably replace it.i haven't really researched that ye but am positive it will be more$$.the rc-6 warranty, handle material and sheath i love it however i would like to get one them kydex sheaths i've been looking at on here.i tkink i got $124.00 in my 6,and i am extremely happy with it and will be getting more esee products in the future...man the warranty is awsome

I'm actually glad I've stumbled upon this thread. I've been considering buying several kinves from the ESEE line, but mostly the 4 and the 6. I've always been a Becker guy, but I'm wanting to spread my wings a little (for fear of becoming a fanboy :)...) The ESEE warranty can't be beat, and all the positive feedback is great.

I held the ESSE 6 today. Felt tough and strong.

As of now, I am interested in 2 knives. The ESSE 6 and Chris Reeve's Green Beret, 7" model.
I am interested in the knives for "Post hurricane" (everyday home emergency needs) and for personal protection.

I also held the ESSE Junlgas today, it felt like a hog :P
I liked reading this thread.

Any comments on the 2 knives?

I get confused on this "chopper term".What is it your chopping?I mean if your planning on chopping down large trees then get an ax.Now trees about as big around as a soft ball and under a ESEE-6 will do. I've chopped that size down for bow wood many times.I look at mine as an all around knife it will do it all.But if your planning on building a log cabin then get something bigger. If your looking for a knife that will chop your way through weeds taller then you then I'd get a machete. But for basic all around outdoor stuff like fishing, hunting, fire building, camping, lite chopping, batoning its a great choice.

The warranty, the group of devoted customers that swear their lives by the knives, should be convincing enough. Not to mention, one of the owners is commenting on your thread...

Well, the Reeve is going to be a bit more suited to the personal protection detail with the narrower blade and sharper tip. Also has a premium steel if that matters to you.

I think the ESEE-6 is a better all around wilderness blade personally.

The Reeve is also at least 3 times the price.....wow.

It all just depends on what your looking for.

I've chopped down 10" trees in the past with a knife and regularly chop 8" branches and the like for firewood while camping.

Granted, an axe would be faster but it's kind of limited in other uses.

I like to have one tool with me that can do a variety of tasks reasonably well. Junglas can work as an axe, knife and a machete. It's not as apt as the real thing in any of those roles but it will do all of them.

I've used the Junglas as a machete, cutting grasses, reeds, vines and the like. Used it to chop down trees, chop up trees and branches and split them for firewood. Used it to process fish and other animals for food. Used it to make trap triggers and other "small knife" tasks.

One tool to rule them all.:D

I have never read or heard of a single person who has bought an RC-6 who regretted it and wished they had bought another comparable knife.

'nuff said.

Thanks for the information.

Yeah, it's awesome how one of the owners of ESEE posts in the forum threads.

Edit: Yeah, I would like nicer steel. The CR BR is S30V.
I would ultimitaly like a Busse with the INFI steel, but those are even more expensive than the CR GB (for some models)

Not the owner, just an employee of sorts.;)

Though Jeff and Mike post on here very regularly.

Busse and Reeve are both good stuff and either would serve you well.
