I'm looking to pick up my first spyderco. My two ideal choces are the endura and the police I'm leaning to the endura but I'm still on the fence I'm worried about the skelitonized liners I currently carry a kershaw leek which is all metel. Help me out please.

Skeletonized liners are a plus not a con. They reduce weight and remove little strength. In most cases you dont even need liners for strength for example the cold steel ak 47. The endura is a classic great bang for buck Spyderco EDC. You should get the enduran then in the future get the spyderco military instead of the police.

They can be made to look like this:

I guess you can ask yourself a few questions

1. what is the legal blade length in my AO?

2. What will it be used for?

3. How big am I? I.E Large hands

Then Endura is a great knife, I prefer the full flat grind versions, the ZDP-189 rocks, the VG-10 is a good basic do all that is cheap to buy. I have two and well I like them alot. Endura is worth having. So if you ask yourself a few questions it may help you out.

Great knife. Get it. I'd suggest getting the FFG version and if it's happens to be ZDP-189 all the better.

The Endura is a fantastic knife. I own (or have owned) Spydercos of all different shapes, sizes, materials, and price points, and the Endura remains one of my very favorites out of the bunch. As already mentioned, the FFG version in ZDP-189 is particularly nice.

Don't buy one. If you do pretty soon you'll have 6 and waste half your day on the internet drooling at all the colors and variations you don't have. Personally I think dollar for dollar the Endura is the best value that Spyderco offers. :D

Personally I used to hate the endura look, then I seen some of the results of some tests using the endura zdp and I was impressed ,plus I like slicers just to change things up.I got one and I love it !! for it's size It is so light in the pocket you almost forget you have it.If you get one get the FFG zdp it is incredibly sharp, you can find them pretty reasonably priced on ebay or around here sometimes

For the money the endura is one of the best knives out there. The police is nice as well, but dollar for dollar the endura wins imho. Vg10 steeel or for an upgrade zdp189,awesome steels two of my favorites. Frn in multiple colors or stainless scales. All for under the price of most of the competition. The endura will do you right.

What they said. Light, strong and a great feel in the hand, makes the Endura a 'must have'.

You might also want to consider the Delica; very similar to the Endura.

What these guys said, too. The Delica (sub-3" blade) is legal in lots of places that the Endura is not. These knives are fantastic workhorses for a very fair price.

Buy a VG-10 Endura with a G-10 Handle. Then buy a FFG ZDP-189 Endura with an FRN handle. Switch the blades and give away the VG-10/FRN combo. You won't be disappointed.

I like the endura, have a old zytel (?) handle one, used it for years use to keep it in my BDU pen pocket in the service, really great knife light and tuff.

Surprisingly good knife can recommend it, no reservation.

Just get one!

I love my spyderedge endura 1- it eats card board and other such materials like no other...

It's also a great eatin knife :D it freaks out waiters real good

Whatever you choose you'll love it- hey, and no matter what happens youll end up with an endura eventually any ways no matter what other spydie you pick up

For less than $90 you can get the full flat grin Endura 4 in ZDP-189; and if you're lucky enough to get a keeper...I've acquired two and both needed extensive re-profiling just to cut paper... you'll be hard pressed to find a better match of steel and ergonomics. The Spyderco Police and Military are twice as expensive, heavier, and the next step up in premium production blades.

I've carried an Endura of one type or another since 92. It's kicked out a lot of much more expensive knives as my daily carry. I have to carry another knife in addition to the endura, not instead of.

It's pretty much what I judge other folders by now. I'm so used to it in my pocket that I can get it out and into action cutting boxes, bags etc. faster than I can any waved , or even auto. I have both VG10 and ZDP ( plus every other model made) but I typically choose the VG10 for everyday use. I keep it at around 20-25 degrees inclusive. I can resharpen this stuff in my sleep if I have to on my DMT or Norton India stones,

Fit for my grip is just right. For another person? Who knows, but it sure suits me.

One model I've seen I wouldn't buy, carry, or give it time in my knife box(es) is the Toxic green model made for another forum. I'd much rather go back to the older models I still can use due to their ability to go on without wearing out. In fact, my Gin 1 ( marked G-2) original first spyderco knife bought in 92 with the molded in FRN clip is still functionally perfect, and very carry able. They don't wear out, just get smoother.
