SELLER BEWARE: Met090, Bryan Cooper, REVERSED PAYMENT UPON RECEIVING KNIFE

Nobody is trashing you. When bobmellon is online again I am sure he will edit the thread once he sees you have taken care of the situation.

It has been nearly 5 hours since I have corrected the paypal accound and sent bobmellon my contact information. He has not replied should I start trashing him or wait a few more minutes???

Look, if the shoe were on the other foot, we wuld be trying to help you out too. It's not about bashing everyone, it's only about doing the right thing. Seems like we just can't win for losing.

Met090, nothing was ever resolved on your end. Before this thread was ever opened I sent you multiple pms. Paypal covered me under seller protection, and that makes your account -280 not mine. However, that does not show that you made a single effort to resolve this issue. You never sent another payment, and you didn't really do anything except tell a story.

Thanks for chiming in bobmellon. Just so newer members are aware, all it takes is one incident like this to leave a big stain on your reputation. Transactions across all forums rely on one single thing, your own reputation. It realldoesn't take much to tarnish it either. This and most other communities have a really long memory for bitter tastes left in the mouthes of those wronged. This is why you should treat every transaction as you would dealing face to face with someone. There is an important lesson to be learned heree somewhere. Less than 20 posts a single transaction that has gone down the tubes isn't what I would call starting off on the right foot.

If anyone other than mods are reading this, I just want to get a couple of things straight here. I am not mad, I am not bitter. Paypal gave me my money, so the issue was resolved, but not by met090, by me, spending 3 hours on the phone, and him pming me , is it there? is it there?, well no its not there because you reversed it and never sent it again, so why would it be there by itself. I love this community for the most part but people like this just ruin it. I don't really care what happens to him because I will not be doing business here again.

There are a lot of really solid buyers and sellers on here! I ve bought and sold some bad ass stuff on here! I would first and foremost check someones feedback. If they have a lot of positive feedback I would say you re good to go! Dont let one piss pot steer you away man!! Lotta good peeps on here!

I had something like this happen to me recently. A person ordered a custom knife. A couple weeks later PayPal notified me and said the person reversed the charge. I contacted the customer and he knew nothing about it and he contacted PayPal to find out what happened. There was some kind of problem with his credit card date expiring and PayPal did the reversal without his consent. He had ordered the knife weeks before the expiration date.

He updated his CC information and resent the payment.

So yes PayPal will do a reversal without notifying the sender.

YIKES - did we sign off approval to do that int he fine print somewhere?

PayPal has your account info. They will pull money from you whether you have a balance or not. One of the many reasons I chose to end my "relationship" with Paypal.

Set up 2 bank accounts. One linked to Paypal, one not.

When money gets in my PP I transfer it to the linked account asap. I then empty that account out to the 2nd account. Then if my Paypal gets hacked, they try withdraw without my permission, etc they are trying to drain an empty account. At that point if they can take money its the banks money....banks typically don't go for that.

I've heard a lot of horror stories with them but so far they have always treated me well. (sorry to go off topic, just thought I'd share that safety step)

What's easier is to deal with people that have good feedback, do your research, communicate effectively. When things go wrong, start a thread, provide details such as dates and times, terms, etc. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that are being ripped off by regular members as well as knifemakers/service providers/ craftsmen.

I have a lot of faith in our community, but people really need to follow through on what they say. Honor your word.

He was smart not to resend payment after you'd filed a claim for seller protection. Paypal isn't very bright at times, and might have paid you twice. Then he'd be trying to get his $$$ back from them and you. Best to let pp do their thing and give you the money and be done with it.

Glad you got your money in the end.

Too funny.

If PayPal would have paid out twice, which would never happen, "Electronic Transfer" of funds isn't complicated.

I've seen it happen. Luckily the person getting the double payment was honest and made good without making me fight for it.
