Huh? I guess that part where I said I am willing to learn should be edited out since apparently I know it all. I am going with Spark on this one.... you just started whining about something and implied that there was something less than above board--- and never said what it was.

Then again, you don't have to explain it to me since "I know it all." Maybe I should go check out my "double standards" unless my fellow forumites have them all out. It is a "growing trend" after all.
 
Spark, glad to hear your input on this thread, but what you said is totally ironic. How can you predict what another person is going to do whether it be intentionally or unintentionally? When I send my money to a person, I do not assume a dang thing. Fact be known that good standing members do go south.

That is true and thank goodness for it. It is nice and warm down here, the taxes are usually lower and the folks are nice and friendly. Some just go South for the winter, but ya'll are a'll welcome. Shoot I just started out replying because I didn't know what the problem was. Is it posts like these:

where the seller writes "Sold" over the price? If that is Big D1s only complaint then I understand it. But it ain't much of a complaint. Sure sounded like something else was going on. Something sinister. B.S. you know. Maybe he could give us a few links as examples and we can all judge for ourselves. Or, maybe he can insult a few more folks. Either way, he is welcome down South.

Everybody but that Sherman fellow, he wasn't very polite. As for that ignoring thing, go right ahead. just make sure and get a little more fiber in your diet.

We already mentioned that post. None of us understand what went on in thet masterchef deal. Who cares? I made a little joke about it, but whatever that deal was it is history. Are there more? Was it JUST THAT ONE?
 
Oh, and sorry about that "welcome South" stuff. I guess we count North Carolina as the south even though it is pretty far north from my old stomping grounds. Wouldn't want to offend the North Carolina contingents as ACC fans they are indeed.

Oh, and one more thing. If Big D1 just wants the last word, let him fire away...I took the Scout troop camping and am truly ready to hit the sack.
 
Oh boy!!!I feel like a star!!!!First off I want to say thank you to the great people that were kind and understanding tward's any of my dealings. Second Big D1 I will clear up any question's that you may have about my MYSTERIOUS life!!! Let's see!! I get up at 5:00am everyday with my son! I feed him and have my coffee!! Then I wipe the poopoo from his dirty butt and change his diaper! I then get in my 1999 jeep cherokee(with 40,000 miles just in case you needed to know) I drive 4 block's to my little Italian restaurant where I begin to cook for the next 14 hour's. Now let's see where we are up til this point---5:00am til 11:30 EVERYDAY that's 18 1/2 hour's that I am up and working EVERYDAY. My office is about 4 steps from my kitchen so I am running back and forth cooking and playing on my computer. It just so happens that I get pretty DAM busy and sometimes I don't have enough time to take a piss let alone write much more than DEAL PENDING. And sometimes if I have never delt with someone I try to give them the benifit of doubt that something may come up and they might not be able to complete a deal so it leaves the door open for them as well as myself. If you ever want to know what I sold a knife for all you have to do is BUY IT! It is a well known fact that anyone who makes a deal with me is going to come out ahead and you want to know why? BECAUSE I DO THIS FOR FUN AND NOT ANY OTHER REASON!So Big D1 I sure hope I cleared up any question's you may have had about my SUSPICIOUS action's. Oh yea if for any reason I may have a knife you might want,don't bother! I will never deal with you! Your to SUSPICIOUS for my liking! Thanks Mike

I must admit, I'm a little bummed though, I thought there was a greater conspiracy brewing, like you were the Steven Seagal type of Chef...you know, cooking only while away from your normal duties of saving the world, etc... ;)

I do not know you nor have I ever dealt with you before. As far as your personal life goes, I could care less.

Making a bold statement about the fact you will never sell to me holds no merit, and it could be judged by others as biased. Big D1

I still don't "get-it". I have a knife for sale and post it for XX dollars. I post a complete explanation of the knife, who the maker/manufacturer is, the blade config, the condition, the steel and the condition. Another formite E-mails me and says "I will take it"

I go back to my "for sale post" and delete everything except the words "SOLD" because the knife is sold, gone, no longer available, has a new owner, and I do not want to get any more mail informing me of someone's interest should the deal fall through. If it does, I would just re-post it.

I do not see where anyone is making any attempt to engage ion suspicious activity if they post a knife for sale/trade, give specifics and then delete them, all when the knife is no longer on the market.

D-1, I wish you could explain to me why you find this so sinister. Once a knife for sale/trade is gone, what difference does it matter to have the original posts remiain if the knife is already in a new owner's hands...........wolf
 
wolfmann, it's very simple because it is a matter of principle.

Take Ebay for example. You can not edit the main for sale post once a bid has been placed. You can only make additions after a first bid.
I wonder why they do that?

Secondly, just because Dick knows Diddly Squat, and Diddly Squat knows whoever has no bering on who I know.

And last but not least. If you delete all the information in a for sale post, how is one supposed to post a positive in the GB&U since the sellers post would be mostly empty. That one should definitely be hard to figure out. Big D1
 
Big D1 sir. What difference does it make if it is edited out.It is,was, and will be a done deal.Finished.Kaput.No more.It has closure.
Everything has a Alpha and an Omega.A begining and an end.Flowers,human life,relationships,marriages,earth ect,ect,ect.
The same for a knife transaction.
It has a begining(when it is posted for sale or trade)
It has an end(when someone purchases or trades for it)
Entirely too much micro examining of dealings going on.God do I miss the 60's.Life was not so complicated.Need to take my meds.

This is surely one of the more bizarre and rude threads I have run across lately..

If you can't see the difference between an ongoing auction and a for sale/trade post here, there is no point in trying to explain it to you or anyone else.

Editing a post in such a way that there is no mistake about the status is the originators business, and is certainly not sinister or suspicious, in my opinion.
 
I guess we're having software trouble -- I see Spark posted he was closing this thread but it's still open. I agree with Spark; this is too weird for this forum -- I'll try to close it and if that doesn't work I'll try to move it to Whine & Cheese ... they'll be just as confused as we are but they might have a bit of fun with it....
