Selling Difficulty

I think the issue is more the hassle of keeping track of everything you sold and how much you got for it plus what it cost you including fees and shipping. It’s a real PIA.

Excell is your friend. Pain in the beginning easy once you get organized.

The new tax law is total BS for people just selling old stuff they have lying around.

Problem is people are making a good living off internet sales and not paying Uncle Sam. So now we all suffer.

I’m just trying to recoup som of my costs. I dove in way too fast and now I’m under water so I have to move some stuff to cover as much of my losses as possible.

I've done the same right here on this forum! I was able to move everything but some did take listing more than once. All my sales were G&S.

That at least gives me hope. These were just the 3 biggest ones I wanted to sell. I was hoping to get them out of the way especially since they would be the most desirable to collectors imo

There's also the fact that the search function isn't working properly. Not everybody scans the Exchange listings looking for things to catch their eye. A lot of people utilize the search function to save time; and with nothing past the 8th showing, your ads are likely being seen by fewer people.
To be successful, an ad needs to be seen by a person that wants what you're selling and is willing to pay the price you're asking. (Also, as has been said, a lot of us see F&F and immediately move on. I usually won't deal with the f&f crowd even if they include a g&s option)

Probably the fact that your new and maybe the models your selling aren't hot around here at this time. Medfords were hot around here at one time, but sales have slowed down somewhat these days. It seems it's all about the timing a lot of times. It's like when I go into the Traditional pocketknife section looking at Gec models I'm interested in, you better be quick because they sell at lighting speed most times and can be quite frustrating at times. Also, the Carothers knives sell as fast as they are put up for sale. So, hang in there someone will find your blades want able sooner or later. GLWS 👍

Thanks for the encouragement!

Another problem I've found is that you see a thread for a WTB for a specific knife in the WTB Forum and you contact the seller multiple times with said item for sale, and they just ghost you. They don't even acknowledge your PM'S or DM'S even though you can tell they have been on the forum after you Pm'd them. I gave the price I wanted and No Nothing no reply whatsoever. So be ready for that as well, maybe don't give them a price until they do contact you. Something to think about as well. Have a great day,

Something else interesting I noticed. For some reason when I am looking to buy a knife it seems like everyone wants it too. I have to refresh the forum and pounce the minute it is posted or it’s gone. But then if I try selling that same knife nobody is interested. Maybe it just me but I’ve gotten this feeling a few times.

Can you help me with what days and times seem to be best?
It's been awhile since I sold so the info isn't fresh, but I seem to remember Fridays and Saturdays being worse than expected. I want to say Sunday is better, but weekdays, especially early ones, are best. Looking back through my own sales threads, I do see mostly Mondays and some Tuesdays. I think after work is probably the busiest time.

Thanks so much!! I will give that a try.

I think adding G&S will help. Even then, though, you may have to ask a little less because of your newness to the forum, i.e., lack of posts and feedback.

This is anecdotal but seems to me that more expensive knives (500 plus) are moving more slowly than 2 months ago. Maybe because of recession fears, people are holding on to their money. And part of it is sellers want to recoup their purchase price, and with high-demand knives maybe that's possible, but non-high-demand knives tend to go for less than the purchase price.
