Selling on Ebay.... lesson learned!

Good call. The guy actually sent it via ups, I know I'll have to go pick it up at the hub. Ill open it in front of a manager there. Thanks for the advice.

UPS, hmmmm, maybe to avoid mail fraud? Ya open it in front of manager see if he don't mind if you video tape

Some people have really bad luck selling on ebay, others have great experiences. Just like anything else in life. A friend of knife sold some of his knives on eBay, he isn't big on forums of anykind. All were absolutely new, never used, never carried, never disassembled, never sharpened. One guy from somewhere in Russia or Europe bought an early Lg Sebenza with BG-42 for around $500 + Shipping. The guy filed a claim for non delivery, after 3 days. So much for common sense. About 10 days later he got the knife and still claimed it was not as described. The guy offered a refund for the item, and offered to pay shipping back to him. 3 weeks later the knife arrived. It was beat to hell, apparently the guy used it, abused it, and swore to Paypal up and down that is how he received it. Total BS.

Something similar happen with this same seller via a US buyer. In this case, the guy sold a Strider CC with a stonewashed blade. The guy got back a beat to hell SnG and claimed that the knife was not what he thought he bought. So, this guy sent back the beat to hell SnG that he had in exchange for the new SMF. Unfortunately the color and blade configurations were the same so eBay naturally sided with the buyer in this case as well. Ridiculous.

I have purchased items in the past from Ebay....Barnett Commando Crossbow, Iron Claw come alongs, and a few years ago Gillette double edge razors....I accept the fact that there are things available there that are hard to find elsewhere...but not impossible....and if you are willing to put in the time, you will find them.

I use Paypal to pay invoices when that is the only option, and have been paid to my wife's Paypal account ONCE because the money involved was worth it.

The instant gratification and international business dealings are unnecessary to me. I sell knives via BFC, at shows and via e-mail and pretty much buy the same way....and I have a LOT of knives...personal checks and money orders are the currency used...to me, if you cannot pay cash for the knife, you probably shouldn't buy it.

So please, OP Logical One....explain what knives you have to purchase through ebay that you cannot find elsewhere.....? 'cause overall, I think ebay sucks.

Best Regards,

Steven, I didn't have an issue with a purchase, I had a problem with selling a knife. I think out of the 3 years I've been collecting knives I have only made 2 knife purchases off of ebay. Ebay is generally over priced and that's the main reason why I avoid buying from there. I chose to sell it there because the fact is, I can get more money from selling on ebay as oppose to selling it on the forums. Somebody pointed out that it extends to a larger market. It's insane how many knife collectors are not on knife forums. I'll be avoiding ebay like the plague after this incident though. No more ebay for me.
