SERIOUS POST...Do you currently own a knife that you will never use?

Nope. I do have a couple of Remington Bullet repros that I won't use 'cause their either too impracticle or too good looking. It's driving me crazy not using them, so I'm going to sell them. I'll post them in the for sale forum. E-bay is too much of a pain.

In short, if I don't, or am afraid to, use something, I get rid of it.

If you won't use it it really is NOT a knife is it? It would be more like owning a paperweight, or if I want to be charitable, a piece of art. I don't buy knives because they might be on "Antiques Roadshow" or in the MOMA or Smithsonian someday. Knives are tools, and I have busted far more of them than I am never going to use at all because I will always use one the moment I get it.

As a matter of fact, I may start a website someday called "knife destruction review" or something when I get a really good digital camera.

NO. I use all of my knifes. My Civilian is Very good drooling catalyst for those days that mouth feels dry.

However I'm happy that it does not have other uses for me.

Yes, I once bought a so called limited edition Colt Bowie 1 of 7500 made, black wooden handle with goldplated Colt "badge" and gold plated hilt. It's still in it's Colt blue box with a black leather sheath with gold imprinted Colt Firearms Logo.
It was the first Bowie knive produced "by" Colt firearms in a hundreth years "they said".
Quality is mediocre but perhaps I can make some Colt firearms lover happy some time.

Oops. That became a long dissertation on the value of art knives.

Non-collectors I won't use are my father, brother, and grandfathers' knives, and some "dress" knives.

I don't use my "self defense" knives.
Whether because it seems sacriligious or because I want to preserve the edge, or both, I can't say.
Anyway, I carry them, but I don't cut anything with them.

I picked up a Benchmade Delta Raider and Kershaw Trooper that I will never use. Simply because I like them too much.

All the knives in the world go round and round, round and round, round and round...DAMN, one of them took my wallet !!! :)

Yes, that's why I stopped buying knives.

Now, my girlfriend has taken to using them. I was shocked to come home to find my Spyderco Calypso (full size) that was engraved from Sal covered with food and left on the counter... but, I guess the SpydieEdge works!

Quite a few, actually.Few of my autos will ever see use other than the AFO I carry on duty. Also I tend to carry the same three or four regularly, out of 150 or so, with few of my straight knives getting any use at all.

Not now.
I wasn't going to use my Nemesis, but I kept fiddling with it....wear marks....collectible value went down and I figured I might as well use it.
I have opened many boxes and mail with it.
I even *gasp* used it for more utility cutting purposes.
I have had to sharpen it several times now, but my Lansky does a pro job and doesn't scratch the blade.
I am currently considering putting a clip on it.
If I do, I'll post a picture so the collectors among us can cringe.

Yeah,
I ordered a Bowie from SOUTHER ORDINANCE... I wanted a cheap thrasher for yard work. They had one for 15 bucks online. I ordered it.
The UPS box was flawless. The item's package inside was shredded and stomped on. The knife's blade was bent like a spoon!
I know I wasn't expecting much from a 15 dollar POS - but I was expecting that it NOT BE BENT UP!

SOUTHERN ORDINANCE has not replied to ANY of the E-mails I sent... Oh well, I can write off 15 bucks. But they keep sending me more catalogs! They make good tender for starting a fire. The knife - I still have. Dont know what to do with it...

I have a few knives from when I was a young boy that hold cheerished memories, but will likely not see use again. They Camillus two blades and a Boy Scout type Camper.

Of my newer knive, non are on the "can't use that one" list. I tend not to rotate much. I stick with one for a while, then switch to a new one. So I guess I do rotate, but not on a daily basis and usually with a new knife.

I'm surprised that there are so few collectors in here. I have a bunch of knives that I'd be crazy to use; they're way too valuable. Antiques, handmades, even some "custom" Microtechs. I have six or seven serious users; the rest are under my caretaker obligation. Why beat up a damascus "art" knife when I can use my trusty old LUDT?

I've had several knives that seemed just too valuable to "use". Now I'm in the camp of either using or selling them off for something that I will use. And of course my list for new knives seems to grow daily!!

I have three knives that I shouldn't use, two are variations of one discountinued model, and the other is #20 out of 100. I sold off all my other collectables -- drives me NUTS not to use them: out of sight, out of mind....LOL. The #20 is a sweet looking skinner that is calling me to open up a deer with it this fall
smile.gif
. I get around not using the skinner, by buying a lot of other nice skinners.....LOL.

Knive are MADE to be used. I can have a lot of respect for the guys who have the will power of collecting NIB knives and NOT using them!

I have a flint knife with a deer horn handle that I don't expect to use for anything. It's very sharp but I'd hate to dull it - I'd never get it sharp again!

I don't have any knives that I consider too good to use but I do have several that I have not gotten around to using.

They are all usable knives with a design that I appreciate even if I don't routinely engage in activities that would be appropriate for them. (Yes Boss, I really do need a Busse Battle Mistress to open my mail
