Serious question! Not a Troll

However a serious number of people that I have contacted about buying from them, argue that Busse products are way overpriced and do not offer such a huge performance advantage claimed over many competitors.

Has the bubble burst? Are they overpriced?

This is from your post right General ?? I reread this entire thread twice because I was a little confused .... All anyone seems to have done is answer your question. You did come here with the not so secret, secret dealer info and asked a question. Everyone endeavored to answer it. So far the only hot posts have been yours.

s002cjs thought I had a point, others have answered my questions. My questions were a little 'hot' as you put it. They ARE NOT MY OPINIONS I am reapeating what others have told me and am asking what people here think. The answers confirmed what I thought already. Busse are worth it, are a great company and offer an honest and open product.

I still think the Basic 9 aught to retail for $200-$230 max.

That I stand by 100% Why spend $290ish for a MOD INFI Basic 9 when for a little more you can have the vastly superiour BM E. Why are some people so eager to push the Basics? I want a BM E! If it were in the low $200 then it would seem a better deal. The price difference between the BM E and the Basic 9 is a bit small. You could say it makes the BM E fantastic value! I would not go that far but I think the BM E is worth the money and the Basic 9 is pushing it a bit.

What are the facts? Have the Basics been a little 'slow' sales wise?

Why the comic book combat theme on the website?

Why has the knife shop, custom shop, office and clothing store been under-construction for as long as I can remember?

I didn't really interpret General's post as an attack on Busse, rather as a theoretical question as to why sales on Basics might be down. Overall, the gist of my suggestion was that they're so good, you really only need one, so those who want one have it and don't NEED another. Those who tend to acquire larger numbers of knives will probably pick up a few basics but would be more interested in the higher end line. Between these two, the supply can be met and demand will go down a bit...until the next group of knife knuts comes along.

So would this dealer sell more if prices were lower? Sure! Especially with the Busse reputation and quality. But by that point, the one losing out would be Busse Combat, and I think we're happier with them around.

You shouldn't have to pay between $200-$230 for a basic 9. I by the way have owned the b3,b5,b9,ms, and Currently a BM-e. You can see basic 9's on the for sale forums for sometimes a $120 bucks I have seen then go that cheap numerous times. That might be an opinion if you are strapped for cash.
Best Regards,
Luke

Thanks Luke!

I have quite a few straight knives in my collection, some costing less than my Busse Basic #3, and some costing considerably more, especially some handmades. My Busse, though certainly plain by custom standards, is more than worth every cent paid.If somehow I should find myself in a survival situation, my #3 or perhaps a #7 or#9 would surely go along if I had my choice. I'm talking potential life or death. I would love to have a Busse custom or two, but the Basic is a "user" and fills my needs, and more, at a reasonable price, especially since I got a very reasonable discount through one of our good online dealers, with the kydex thrown in for free! So, "different strokes,...etc.". I hope the Busse Basic line lives forever, or at least until I can get a longer one, just in case!

I don't own a Busse. I have a friend who makes knives, and he uses 1095 and other high carbon steel. He makes some great knives. But for his own use he bought A Basic 9, and more recently a BM E. I guess that just goes to show that SOMEONE WHO KNOWS GOES WITH BUSSE.
