Serrated knives, why do you need them?

What do you consider an impressive sharpness feat that you can perform with your knives then? you said cutting bread isn't impressive and I agree it's possible at probably eve

Then I will just do a draw cut or a push cut instead? Do you really think I can't draw cut through some freshly baked bread, so when I go to the bakery and buy this specific bread and show you video proof what will you say then?
I think your knives probably aren't as sharp as you think they are.

You seem like an honest, forthright guy, so I'll take your word for it.

Lets say you disagree with the lock failure test, and I was "Wrong" what does that have to do with this thread? Or are you saying your future opinions only matter if everything you have said in your life was correct boforehand?
What is it like to be a god among men?
In that thread you claim to have been knife fighting since you were 1 years old. How are we to take you seriously? Especially when you start this thread only to tell everyone how awesome you are at sharpening, challenge people to post bread cutting videos, and pimp your YouTube channel?

You can't even carry the knives you own where you live.

Sorry, I'm out on this thread...

You maybe don't understand UK knife laws, I can carry any locking blade I wan't to work with me, or whenever I have a reason to carry them. I claimed to be knife fighting since I was 1? you'll have to quoite me on that. Sounds like you are offended that I can sharpen a knife to a point where I don't need serrations? I didn't challenge anybody to bread cutting, somebody told me they don't believe me so I showed evidence, if people call me out I'll show them proof.

Go read up on UK knife laws, it might help you spouting incorrect info in future.

Last reply since you are challenging my information even though it is all in your silly Benchmade fail thread. In that thread you say you have 35 years knife experience on the mean streets of London. Your profile says you are 36 years old. Is my math off? I understand the UK knife laws just fine. You only carry a knife going to and from work? Is one of your "reasons" for carrying a blade "self defense" Lol? Not offended at all by the greatness of your skills. I'm a little confused on why you think people on the worlds largest knife forum would be at all impressed that you can sharpen a knife though. Have a good night and try not to stab anybody.

I have 25 years experience in blade based martial arts, if I typed 35 it was a typo. When did I ever say I carry a knife for self defense? I carry 2 EDC blades for general cutting tasks. What does any of this have to do with serrated blades Vs plain edge exactly? Stop trying to derail the thread please, and get over your obvious prior grudges for my Benchmade thread, it's glaringly obvious.

Sorry to bring this back on topic.

As a mechanic, I have found that serrated or partially serrated is best for my work knife. Lots of zip ties, plastic, cardboard, and sometimes wire.

I am still looking forward to my first knife fight. I’ll be the guy with the Glock.

This is probably a bad time to say that I put a Global bread knife - serrated  - in my wife’s Christmas stocking. She is so very happy with it. My younger son sliced his finger open with it, but he doesn’t get worked up about such things. It’s an excellent bread knife, far better and quicker than dicking around with anything else.

Being a plumber, a serrated blade is useful in many tasks. Serrations are like tanto’s, some don’t like them, can’t understand a need for them or why anyone would want them. You really don’t need either one if what you do doesn’t require one, but for some, it’s an asset to the tool.

I work in equipment rental, I can tell you that a fully serrated blade works wonders when removing landscaping mesh, rope, string, reeds, etc. from the tines of a roto tiller, overseeder or aerator. Sure, you can get it done with a plain edge, but from experience, serrated makes it much easier and faster.
