Serrated Vs Plain edge

One of each is good Jetblack! Then you can decide what you prefer!

I got the Rc-4 combo, and the Rc-5 plain.... I will be ordering a 3, and 6 as soon as possible, but im not sure which blade I will be getting on those.

Plain, no question. I have a Leatherman too and a folding saw in my hunting pack. If I could only carry one it would be my RC4. PLAIN! :)

Glad to see you went a SE & PE , both have function and useage in different scenarios. I like the SE at work and PE in the bush. You can sharpen the SE with a standard stone or with a rod ,no specila tools required. I also like to use the serrated portion to strike my firesteel and saves the PE portin from dulling.

yeah, I figured that it would be good to have both.

I completely missed this thread until now, but it looks like the standard answer was given. When in doubt get both. :D I'm sure you will like all of your new RATs Jetblack

Thanks for poppin in hw, I got the answers I was looking for, but always value your opinion.:)

:D Thank you Jetblack I guess someone has to, I think you will like the RAT serrations they can cut straight instead of just tearing material.

So far I love having both serrated and straight on the same blade. It seems to me to be a good all around choice if you are only going to carry one knife

I love sharpening my knifes but hate serations. Most of my knifes are plain edge and very sharp. I understand how the serations can help cutting rope or webbing. All my knifes tactical or otherwise still have to function in a hunting enviroment. I don't see the serations helping much skinning or gutting an animal.
