PS Thanks!

About 10 years ago I spotted a close-out bin at a local hardware store with stainless EKA-38's mixed in with a mess of junk gas-station knives for $5.00 each . I wasn't familiar with the model but recognized the EKA name and bought all 20 of them in blue, orange, yellow, white and black. Nice slip joints for every day use plus they make great gifts to NKP and toss-ins when swapping and trading. I used one just last week to close the deal on a Buck Ion Fusion I found at a gunshow.

Very nice! I've been considering picking up some of those models for my shop and seeing some better pics of them besides the stock images cemented it. :D

If you do please 92 in wood and 60........about impossible to find in the usa.

Back On topic .......op super nice collection. I love this brands knives. I got an eka8 and 10. I like 'em better than my american made slijoints and traditional lock backs from case and buck, queen and such.

I love EKAs and have felt that they get overlooked quite often, due to their bare bones, utilitarian styling. I've found their 12C27 to bear an excellent heat treat giving it decent edge retention. I haven't tried any of their carbon however.

I'd like to pick up an EKA knife, or two or three, but I don't know much about them. How is the build quality, specifically any blade play or wobble when open?

The blade centering is commonly alright though sometimes the edge tends to hit the back spring and thus render a blind spot. This occurs maybe 1/10 cases.

Can anyone tell why EKA has such a good reputation here, is it because of the steel quality compared to the price? Is the overall guality good especially with their folding knives?

Very good steel, natural handle materials, scandi- or full flat ground blades, thin blades, attractive prices and a well thought out designs.

Quess I should give them a chance. How about the "granite" modell, can you tell me what is the handle material, does anyone know? Or is it just plastic?

It's stone particles and acrylic resin like in Corian worktops.

Hello Mikael, Anton and dePaul! (one tend to meet the same people all over the net per nerd interest)

I thought I'd post a pic of the new EKA Swede 7 here too:
Hello back!

Haha. You're right. You'll find us all over the band width ;).

The Seven is a truly beautiful knife. The SS screws are starting to grow on me (as well). I still prefer the brass ones though. I also like the T8-like blade shape. I wonder what the blade thickness is. Do you have any info on that matter?

~Paul~

PS One draw back. Lack of the lanyard hole ;)

No I do not have any further info on the knife than what I wrote on http://www.flickr.com/groups/eka-knivar/ .
I just got yes this evening when I asked for permission to forward the info and extra photos I got a week ago. I did ask for a photo of the old protoype he (the President of EKA) is talking about. He did not send that, but told me that he personally answers 300 emails (on the average) per day; so I thought I better not nag any more.

Well relating to our "flame fest" elsewhere I hope that the knife will be of extra high quality and finish which justifies a very high price and enable 100% production in Sweden.
