Which one you guys like better, Shaman or Spydiechef?

Between those two I’d go with the spydiechef. How many of these threads do we need?

I like the manix over the shaman for edc, since it’s smaller. But it all depends on what you like in a knife. The shaman is a bit of a brute.

Man, that’s a tough one. I’m by no means an expert on Spyderco knives, I just bought my first manix and it is really a nice knife. It’s a little thinner than the shaman if that makes a difference to you. I prefer the rougher texture of the G10 over the shaman, but the roundness of the edges on the shaman all blend together to make it comfortable in the hand. I didn’t know if I’d like the manix at first, but having it in hand makes all the difference in the world. I now understand the attraction people have towards the manix. No doubt, I’ll own a lightweight manix soon.
I’m sitting at work typing this with both knives in hand. I’d say whichever one appeals to you the most is the right one because between the two, there is no wrong choice.

BOTH!!! I've got 3 manix 2 spydies and as of now 1 shaman....looking to get another...both are great workers, both see a lot of pocket time...for me it just comes down to which lock do u prefer the ball lock or comp

I've never owned a Shaman but the Manix 2, both G10 and LW versions are a favorite of mine.

The ergos are awesome and it's a knife that could take just about whatever you can throw at it.

The Manix 2 LW finally replaced my LW Native as my most common EDC blade. Then the Shaman appeared.

I think the Shaman is more refined, but I have used and abused Manix 2 and 2 XLs for years. It'll take a while- if ever- for the Shaman to earn that kind of trust.

I like the Manix 2 better because it's more comfortable in my hand. So I recommend that you try them in hand before deciding. The differences in handle shape are subtle but could affect comfort during use. If you want a blade with thick stock but find the Shaman uncomfortable, you might be able to find a Superleaf. The Manix 2, Manix 2 XL (not pictured), Superleaf, and contoured Halpern Mule Team handle are my favorites for hand comfort.

Which one you guys like better??? I can’t decide.
I've got 2 Manix2 s and truly Love them both! I got the Shaman 2 wks ago and haven't carried the 2 since!
The Shaman has the M4 steel which is dang AMAZING! I love it!! Since edcing it cutting all types of fiberglass screen,cardboard,rubber..etc it's been on the sharpmaker once..lightly.
Stropped frequently and still has a friggin scary sharp edge!!! I have pics but it's too aggravating trying to post them...sorry!

If you’re right handed and love the compression lock, the shaman has superior ergos. It’s fairly difficult to operate left handed, and I love my PM2 and Para 3, the curve of the scales makes it harder to grip left handed when closing. Also has a beefier blade stock, if you’re into tank feeling blades.

If you’re left handed, the Manix would be the far better choice in my opinion. It has a stronger lock and us ambidextrous, better fidget factor, thinner blade BUT is a bit of a pain to disassemble.
I still think if you’re right handed, Shaman. Left, definitely Manix.

Own a couple of each...

Manix 2
  • Carbon Fiber - Cruwear
  • Indian Rosewood - M390 DLC
Shaman
  • Dymondwood - Rex 45
  • Black G10 - Black S30V

Both are real workhorse knives. If you really use your knives, I mean REALLY use them, then there's no better knife anywhere than the Manix 2. The Shaman is prettier.

They are both big knives (larger then my preferred size). However I would rather use the Shaman as the compression lock is more to my liking.
