It's a left-handed knife?!?View attachment 1412192 View attachment 1412191
I’ve carried it in a small slip every day since Sunday. It is a very handy knife. Reminds my of a pocket paring knife (pictured with a Vic paring knife). I’m still getting used to the nail nick on the other side of the blade though.
The blade came from the Waynorth 86, which had the pen blade opposite of the main blade, hence the left side nick. It's a left-handed knife?!?
I think I can still get it open! The blade came from the Waynorth 86, which had the pen blade opposite of the main blade, hence the left side nick.
Once it gets a nice patina it will pinch open, I suspect.I think I can still get it open!
Thanks for the update. It looks like the patina is getting a bit more prominent as well—nice!View attachment 1419290 View attachment 1419291
I’ve been carrying at work everyday in my small slip. I really like having the full handle length and haven’t felt under-bladed at any point. Also, obligatory Nebraska corn picture.
Just saw this, Joshua. Will send a message to Nebrasketball.Nebrasketball sent me a PM saying he’s ready to pass along the PJ pocket carver. I sent a message to @tinfoil hat timmy and he would like to bow out for now, so
Prester John is up next! If y’all can exchange info over Pm we can get this one into the next round!
Nice impressions, Vince, thanks. I never carried the knife exclusively except around the house. It is definitely 1095, as it is the pen blade from an 86 put on a frame that was based on a 78 (but fully custom, if I recall correctly). I’m looking forward to seeing what you find to use it for!Okay, first impressions:

The knife is pictured with three of the knives I carry most often. Not the blade-to-handle ratio I am used to. The blade seems a little small. And it's hard getting used to the nail nick being on the wrong side! And it's strange not seeing the brand name anywhere on the knife. I believe the blade is the standard GEC 1095. It came sharp, and is nicely centered. Half-stop. Nice action. Not sure if I can carry it exclusively for a week, but I will try to carry it most of the time for at least a week, and use it primarily. Will post again soon.
It’s getting good use! Nice little patina going as well.Out for some fresh air this morning:

A chef's knife helped some, of course. Some slicing of the potatoes and onion. But the little knife did the dicing.
