You are probably thinking of coral snakes (photo - commons public domain). This one looks like a scarlet king snake. Easy way to tell is red bands touching black.

All three of Chris’ barn cats had kittens within the same time frame. Twelve total kittens, which had been in the barn, but Mittens moved hers into the shed behind my shop. There’s always a bird hanging out with them in there too because every time I approach it flies around in a circle in front of me before taking off. Weirdo.
