Interesting fact: Snapping turtle vs Painted turtle nests.

You can always tell where a big ol’ snapping turtle laid their eggs. When they fill in the nest hole, it’s always messy. Looks different from the surounding area.

A painted turtle will move the sand, grass, and little chunks of leaves or whatnot back to where they were before she dug her nest. It’s incredible. Even I can’t tell the difference if I go check after she leaves.

Just a cool comparison for ya’ll.

We had a calico when I was a kid. Her name was Coco. She was adorable. And Shadow. He was black and bugged her a lot.

Traffic keeps coming so I’m stuck here until Chris gets here with a shovel. He won’t move while I’m watching him but he only moves once I’m 20 meters away and of course each time we had oncoming traffic

You just grab them by the tail and hang them upside down away from your body, I've moved many a snapper this way 😁😜

The worst ones are soft shells. IMHO. Seems like they have longer necks and are faster/“more snappy”

Where I grew up the soft shell ones were pretty rare, I only saw a couple over the years. Tons of sliders and big snappers though! I caught a few snappers by diving down and grabbing the tails underwater 😁 that was fun swimming back up while keeping them away from your soft bits 😂
