Share your love of Traditional Folders with a Single Spring and Two Blades!

That's a remarkable example of an old CASE knife, complete with a cut-out, brilliant item!

This Queen/Schatt Mini Muskrat single-spring has a lot going for it: small size, great snap&no blade-rub or play, gap free, nice bone, slant bolsters.

It also has a lot against it: the stainless blades are impossible to get an edge on them. I can't understand it, even diamond won't fix it. Something odd in the treatment process I suppose...

Will-sure that they are stainless? Perhaps it's D2. You would know much more than I, but that sounds like a classic description of Queens D2 steel. Diamonds were what made the difference for me. Lovely knife, 'twould be a shame if it couldn't cut.
Thanks, Neal

Gary, welcome my friend. You have posted 2 excellent knives on your first visit.
+1. Great first post Gary. Come back soon.
I appreciate the encouragement, Ron and Alan. :)
Some of the examples I've most enjoyed here are the single-spring canoes. I currently have about 30 canoe pattern knives, but I think only two of them are single-spring models.
One is a Solingen-made Hen & Rooster green pick bone mini-canoe (thanks, Will):

The other is a Schrade-Wostenholm I*XL stag canoe I won in a GAW by cchu518. It has a single spring, but it sure has a funky design in terms of using multiple liners, I think to avoid blade rub. Is the design shown below typical of single spring canoes??

That Canoe is a pretty one Gary. I have not seen the multiple liners design like that before. Of course, there is a lot I have not seen:confused:

I just realized, I got mixed up, or maybe was into my second glass of red and thought I was posting a welcome message to a new poster who turned out to be 5K Qs :D Hardly the case. Still, I meant what I said Gary:thumbup:

GT, that green pick bone Hen & Rooster is lookin' good!!! Very nice that it is also a single spring.

Thanks, Alan. I wish someone who knew more than me about knife design could provide some insight about the construction of that I*XL canoe.
And my post WAS my first in this particular thread, so your post makes perfect sense to me. Besides, I also meant what I said: I (and I imagine most of us) always enjoy hearing encouraging words!;)

Thanks, James. I like that little knife a lot, and greatly appreciate Will Power's generosity in sending it to me!:thumbup:

Since I'm a YUUGE Rough Rider fan , this post will be for my single-spring Rough Riders, both of which are relatively recent acquisitions and both of which I admire immensely.

This Case Eisenhower is from 1979. It is a stainless Tested XX Razor Edge with Jigged Delrin. While it is admittedly not as beautiful as its Jigged Bone brethren, it is still a dandy little Pen knife. :)

Here's a Schrade Walden 708 I picked up about 1/2 year ago. It is what I carry when I'm 'dressed up' or just want a smaller knife.

Very interesting Ron. I just missed an Eisenhower on the vast wasteland auction site. I like that pattern but don't have one.

Gorgeous gentleman's knife Al, it may be what the single spring does best!!!

...This has become one of my favorite threads.

+1 Hadn't really given the SS 2 blade much thought, then this thread started and I've had one in my pocket everyday since. Thanks to all the posters! -James

Some of my favorites patterns are the GEC #09
