Share your love of Traditional Folders with a Single Spring and Two Blades!

I agree. Nice examples James and Ron

And that's a nice 708, ecallahan. :) I had a yellow one and lost it. Need to get another.
I agree 100% with what AL expressed here! (Except I've not lost a Schrade Walden pen knife.)

Jack, the anonymous "OCS Office Cleaning Supply" Sheffield pen knife with combined turnscrew and caplifter you have is a Stephenson and Wilson Pattern 109 LAB. I located it in a folder illustrating Stephenson and Wilson patterns I recieved from a friend who worked at the company for many years.

I just added this Queen City #376 to my collection. It is 1095 and has some very decent Stag. I have looked at this pattern for some time and I was finally able to secure this one at a good price! It is a pattern that shows a lot of promise! After all it does have a single spring and two blades! :D

Ron, I agree that Queen has a lot going for it; equal end, swell center, sweet shield well inlet into attractive stag. Very nice indeed. Can you tell what the main blade length is and can you get back to us (with your thoughts) after some rigorous testing? :)
Thanks, -James

Don't usually post something I haven't received yet but I'm excited enough that I thought I'd show this one today.
It's on it's way! More to follow soon.

James, the main blade is 2-7/8" and the OAL of the knife is 3-7/8". That rigorous testing might take awhile!:eek::D

James - I know exactly what that is! Your bank account will never be the same!:D

Ron I'm particularly interested by that Queen. Sometime back, I tried to buy one from a dealer but he ignored my e-mails so I got fed-up. It was also rather expensive and on reflection I decided Queen's current F&F didn't merit the risk. Now looking at yours I'm interested again. How's the snap and other F&F aspects?

The Chunk Magnificent trio, very nice knives indeed, congratulations!

Thanks, Will

My apologies for missing your post until now my friend. Thanks for the information. I come across knives of that pattern fairly regularly, or ones which have an identical frame with two blades. I think they are still being made in Sheffield

S&W went out of business a while back, some of the knives are still in the pipeline as NOS. To my mind they represent the sort of "cheap and cheerful" workingman's knives used in the urban areas of the UK post WWII. Very intelligent minimalist designs for the postwar UK.
