Photos Sharing CRK Art - My CRK Collection

I have noticed that some of my Damascus blades had more of a contrast than others. I thought this was just the difference between "batches" of the steel blanks.
Do you think that this older high contrast Damascus has a higher carbon content and therefore higher contrast and the need for the blade to be coated?
I do know that there is great variability in the corrosion resistance (and I think then the carbon content) of different types of stainless steel.
Never really thought about it... till you wiser "older" BF experts pointed it out!
You live and learn... Just keep livin!

I am sure not sure what were the difference between the batches that produced the "High Contrast" Stainless Steel Damascus and the current offerings.

However, I know for a fact that there's another kind which are the "High Carbon" or "BW" Damascus (had 2 of those). They look similar to the "High Contrast" SS Damascus, except they don't have a sheen on them. They look flat black and white. And they were truly High Carbon steels, which will rust if you do not take care of them.

I am in no way an expert on these as I just learned them from various old time members here. Maybe Nyefmaker, LW, or Dinokay can chime in..

Here is an example, notice how the blacks look flat?

Cheers... :D

The ones labeled as B&W, blue, or bronze damascus have a coating on the blades.

I think this knife needs a bigger box!

Now that's the kind of Night Scene that I am interested in!
Is the blade bronzed?

It's not, but it does have nice contrast. I was really trying to capture how dark and intense the color on this one is, and having a hard time. I's got the deepest color I've ever seen on a NS, per my request.

The NS knives sure are difficult to photograph

Beautiful knives and pics everyone!

NATURAL light is the key in my opinion...

are you willing to part with any of your smaller chris reeves knives? im interested in the ti-locks (think thats the name), sabenzas or any other of his smaller knives that are simple like those models. ive sent this kinda message a few times on these boards so i dont wanna be repetitive but basically im headed out of the country for doctors without borders and i was told i needed a good folding knife. threw my research the past couple days ive come across the chris reeves knives and ive totally caught the bug. theres something just so perfect in their simplicity that i really dig. outside of a mini-griptillian a couple years ago, im totally new to the knife game... im still in my residency and im not making real "dr money" yet so i dont have a lot to spend so i thought i might find a decent used one somewhere for a price i can afford...have a good day man, and your collection is quite impressive...you can email me at travisowain at yahoo if youd like

Just ordered my fist, hoping I'd be one and done. I could see my collection growing based on the cgg's you show that I never knew existed, simply stunning. I need tips on how to hide them from the wife :)

It's not the hiding that is hard. Mine are mostly kept in a safe or lock box...it's the discovery by the wife.
Luckily..mine is pretty understanding. She has bought me 2..An Impofu (she calls it the "orc slayer" :D ) and recently a CGG..
