When GEC announced the Mako I have to say at first I wasn't so sure I'd be a fan. Like a bunch here I had certain concerns. Would it be too long? Would the fishtail be cumbersome or silly looking? Yadda Yadda Yadda... But then I got to looking at the images coming out from their website and realized that its just a beautiful, elegant knife. It slimness make it an excellent carry and while I dont usually go in for single blade knives myself, when I do its usually for longer slimmer ones, like a slimline trapper, toothpick, or Laguiole. I got my Blue camel bone on Friday and its been in pocket ever since. The Mako certainly fits the bill as a wonderful pocketable steakknife and by the patina its already forming you can see its been up to a bat a few times. Well it just goes to show that the great minds over at GEC rarely get it wrong and this one is a real gem. I've had to check myself a couple times an hour as I've been close to grabbing a version in Ebony and Yellow Bone as well, I like this one so much. So here's my Blue Bone. Lets see yours.

I have a ebony, and burnt stag model en rout. Watching videos from suppliers about 15 times did the trick, pics to follow.

The blue bone with the patina on the blade looks good Lemmy.

Thanks Mark. And Akula I think you will very pleased. I may just have to pick up an ebony. Love the plain shield and always wished they had made the 2009 #12 Toothpicks in ebony. The MakO may just fit the bill there.

I had the exact same thoughts on this knife!

I thought it would be a big dud. I was so wrong!

Every one of my choice dark blue ones was gone an hour or so after I added them to my list!! You guys were fast!

My brother has the Burnt Orange Bone 63. It is stainless and very nice. No picture as of yet.

Where you at Brian! :)

I have a yellow rose enroute. Should be here tomorrow actually & I can't wait! Was not remotely interested in these until I started seeing pictures of them finished. The blackwater just about pushed me over the edge & then the yellow rose sealed the deal. Always a sucker for yellow bone. :)

The blackwater version looks awesome, It was a tough call. Nice selection up there guys ^^^^.

I would think getting a mako or three would be absolutely mandatory for someone whose screen name is Akula.;-)

Lemmy, I felt the same way, was not going to get one but when they came out with the Chestnut i decided to get one.Really glad I did, it feels great and is such a classy knife, even the tang stamp is classy if that makes any sense. Fit and finish is outstanding.

Great Chestnut and Ebony examples guys! Love that script tang stamp on the Chestnut. Its nice to see that GEC has fun with their productions, keeping it lively in the factory. But that ebony! I need one.

Mine finally came today and wow I'm really blown away by this one! I went from hating pretty much everything about this knife when I first saw GEC's sketch on paper to loving this knife. :) I wouldn't normally like a knife this long but it's so thin and fits in my KSF leather pocket sleeve perfectly so it wont carry any different than any of my other knives that I would normally carry with that sleeve. The fit and finish is perfect on it and to be honest I haven't heard anybody complain yet about getting one with a single "flaw". Will try to get some better pictures with more natural lighting when I can but this is what I was able to take while at work.

:o I was "hooked" as soon as my Ampullae of Lorenzini detected these tasty looking beauties.
Chestnut has been in my chum trail for quite some time so I was quick to strike.Pretty much gobbled one up as soon as it dangled its feet over the side.
After that I went completely crazy with mako madness and snapped up a blackwater as well.
The chestnut arrived today. Here it is with one of its ship mates for a size comparison. Thats a 23Trader so the 63Mako is no small fry.
