Photos SharpByCoop's Gallery of Handmade Knives

Congrats on the new Pearce Coop. Walnut may not be as decorative as some of the exotic woods, but it definitely ages well. The copper bolsters are a perfect compliment to that knife.

Those Burch's are about the nicest i've seen.

Thanks Coop,
Peter

This one was shot at Blade this year, and was just published in the Sept issue of Knife World. This is my first publishing, so I' really excited! Thanks for a great photo Jim:thumbup:

I have had the opportunity to create a few ads in my work. The basis is always a well-displayed knife, but the challenge is to include info text to be readable and to the point.

Here are a couple of samples I did this year:

To announce the upcoming show sent on a postcard. (Display knives to be raffled off).

A full-page for the upcoming Knifemaker's Guild Show program.

For an ad in Blade:

They all have a similar 'look', for good or bad. This type of work can take years to master and the best ads always make it look easy and quick.

.... because it's SHOW time! :D

Those who went to Josh's hammer-in have a renewed appreciation for this one by Owen Wood:

The engravers on the next two send these into the stratosphere!

I am doing a LOT of work for dealers. To this end I really have to work quickly and not spend too much time on any of these. Because of this, I'd say it's 'not my best work', but I'll let you decide. ;)

Coop

Coop we all need to make a living, so I think we'll all forgive you for 'not doing your best work':p. It raises the bar for a lot of the photos I've seen on dealers' sites, that's for sure.

Dude, I'm just so stoked that I have access to stuff like this. We're all so fortunate that you feel it's important enough for you to take your valuable time and share something that gives so much value to our little patch of e-estate, out of your own sweat and blood.

Although, I gotta say that bangs don't really do it for me. I've seen other lady likenesses engraved with these bangs and it's just a real turn off. But that's just me. Now, those flowing locks- ah, that's good stuff:).

Coop, great buch of knives yet again. This time the Frank Potter knives stand out to me. Especially the second and third one:thumbup:

Enough to turn one into a folder collector.
That's the intention. You watchin' this 'fixed blade' guy? :D

I must agree. The better dealers all insist on top-quality photography, whether it's me or not. As they should.

Marcel, I am pleased you enjoy his work. I talked to Frank only once on the phone and he seemed like a character: VERY to the point and funny. Unfortunately he had a heart attack on the way home from Blade Show back about 5 years ago and didn't recover. :(

Here are a couple more of his:

And just because it's cool, I offer an 'old school' Michael Walker stag folder. No reason, but it's current:

Lastly, although these found success in their own threads, I like to have them in here. Good company. :)

I have a gaggle of folders to show off next....

One of my current clients was fortunate to acquire a LOT of knives from a prominent Belgian collector. I managed to shoot 100 of them in the past month. This fellow had GOOD taste and loved finery.

I will let the photos speak clearly to his taste:

More great knives and beautiful photographs, Coop! Thanks for keeping us in the loop. I have the sister knife to that Schwarzer yellow pearl folder above. Steve told me about it but I've never seen it until now. Cool! Also, great job on the graphic pieces above - very nice!

WOw, I love those knives! And great photos.

The first knife of the last post is Labeled as Al Dippold but are you sure its not Shane Taylor? Looks like his style and steel!

Yet again a great assortment of knives. I especially like the Potters and the Schwarzer in this bunch. Coop, of course excellent photos once again:thumbup:

Hi Jon,

Thanks. That very well may be the case. I was not given a list of makers and I thought I looked it over closely. Al's mark is a maltese cross.

I'll edit as soon as I confirm.

More great images, Coop. Enjoying this thread a lot!

Note: Al D. occasionally has his last name on a liner, I believe.

- Joe
Just inside the liner.

Good eye Jon, but Al was one of the first to teach those guys how to make mosaic folders.
I do not believe Al would make a folder with a blue blade. I know I wouldn't :)
Looks alot like Al's steel but I bet it's a Taylor.

Great shots, Coop!

Thanks again for the clarification. The Shane Taylor knife has been corrected.

In fairness to Al Dippold, I offer one that is TRULY his! :)

WOW....that is another spectacular display of knives. I had not seen Frank Potter's knives before. Exceptionally creative in design.

That must be quite the enjoyable task of getting to handle all the knives you do:D

Thanks Coop.
