Frank Potters knives are really something. I heard they are pretty heavy, is that true? And I like the feel of a heavy folder so I don't mean it negatively.

Hi Jon,

I never took note of this, but since they almost all have dual bolsters and are NOT thin, there is a lot of material. Short answer: Yes.

Like you I am not concerned about this. I like bulk.

By the way, I am in dialog with a VERY prominent maker sending me drawings of a not-so-subtle folder. Weight is not a consideration. What is required is a big ClackFactor! :p

Coop

must be Steve Ryan:)

A heavy blade will make more clack. And whatever that nice thing is called when the blade seems to spring into the locked position when its close to fully open.

Not so subtle...

Gus?

Anyway I hate to admit this but I sometimes clack with one hand when I drive... (come on, its NY!)

I don't have anything to post just yet. I will real soon, after I finish some edits.

For me: Show was a bust. Least 'profitable' show I have attended. That said, it's not all about the Show's profit (ask any knifemaker who attends a show without financial success).

Probably a combination of things: New location = Expensive location. Loss of the Tactical Invitational. The Guild Show the following week, the USN Gathering the week before both drew traffic and tableholders away.

The Auction on Friday eve was VERY interesting to witness, and I took many candids for an album I will post.

That said, those that were there were top of the line: I have shots from Lake Loerchner, Steigerwalt, Lerch, Bump, Skaggs, Muller and others. I also made do with a ton of my usually-not-included dealer website shots. I had the time, so I asked my clients to send them in! I'll show them all. These knives were all part of the Show.

News as I do.

This has been an updated infomercial report.... :D

late night, or early morning, I never get tired of Coop's infomercials:thumbup::D

I never get tired of them either. But then Coop's not just posting photos of the same or his favorite maker's knives over and over.

I wouldn't mind if he did. I never get tired of those gorgeous Hill Pearce pieces.

Keep the hits coming, Coop!

I am remiss on my earlier wish to do a 'family' portrait of my HP collection. Just been too busy. Sometime this year, anyway.... :D

I am about halfway through the edits from Chicago. What I lacked in volume was TOTALLY made up for by quality. Incredible pieces. Bruce Bump's dagger (posted on his own) is a taste.

I wrote a standalone thread with many comments on the show and what it was like.

I suggest reading further if this interests you: Chicago Show • Quality First

I shot about 20 images. Click on the image to draw you into the Album, Then click on the thumb to get to ALL my Chicago Show galleries.....

Thanks!

(Not sure who's sheath?)

Bill Ruple makes them clean and snap-tight:

Jay Hendrickson interprets a Persian 'Jambaya' dagger:

And he interprets a Wm. Moran ST-24 in damascus just as pleasingly:

And Frank Centofante (recently passed :() was a master of tidy. Jim Small gives it elegance with his basketweave and gold dots:

Good stuff!

Normally I'm not a big fan of Jay's knives...but that Jambaya looks very well executed and is real cool.

I love those SR Johnson knives. Really cool design and impeccable execution.

I feel exactly the same way.
