Photos SharpByCoop's Gallery of Handmade Knives

Here are knives that will be familiar in design, yet fresh to the eyes.

It's no secret that Kevin Casey is one of my most prolific clients. I never get tired of seeing classic clean lines, complex steel, and great natural scales.

Another of my favorite knifemaking artists reaches us from the Far north in Anchorage Alaska. Jeffrey Cornwell is happily on the fringes of design and ALWAYS evokes a closer look:

I will not be there, but Jeffrey will debut at the Chicago Custom Knife Show in two weeks. Please give him a hello!

Jody Muller does it all. A great maker by every measure. Egyptian cats anyone?

Since Ron Best started making folders about a year ago, he hasn't looked back. He can't fill enough orders. :)

That's it for a bit. Thanks for looking!

Beautiful works and beautiful images Coop. Those feather patterns in Kevin Casey's works are sublime.
The words that came to my maybe puritanical mind were "oh my"... :p for J.Cornwell's "Lost Love" :o Ha Ha.. Riské but compelling:D

The words that came to my ~not so PC~ mind were "f*#k me!":p

Very nice pics, of some very nice knives!

Thanks for posting coop.

Kind regards,

Jos

I really like that mammoth & damascus liner lock. The blade really looks (as I'm assuming it was intended to look) like a leaf willowing from the trunk of a palm tree.

I have always been appreciative of the style and workmanship of Keith Ouye. He always provides a canvas for slick engraving and his subjects are diverse.

I've taken MANY shots of his work. Here is another with Bruce Shaw's Artwork in collaboration.

Keith's knives always have a few trademark items:

  • Large flat areas of stainless steel, making it easy to engrave or mill designs.
  • A clip that resembles the profile of the knife
  • A small window with jeweling in it for appeal
  • A flipper action opening

Keith waited 18 months for a spot on the talented Lisa Tomlin's schedule. No one, I mean NO ONE is better than Lisa with regards to a portrait of a beautiful woman in her work.

Let's see why, with a lovely Hawaiian beauty:

You HAVE to see this closely. Here is a full crop from my 21mp camera:

My wife thinks that she revealed just enough to be sexy and mysterious without being fulfilling.

Lastly since we are on the subject of dangerous curves and beauty, I offer a rare glimpse of a lethal and sensual dagger from Mike O'Brien of Texas.

I rec'd a correction from Keith about this photo. I didn't have MY facts straight. :)

Just one note however, the scales on 99.9% of my
knives are 6al4v titanium .071" thick. Only the two knives engraved
by Simon Lytton had scales that were 440c ss heat treated to 25 rc.
I do make a few big knives with .100 6al4v titanium scales.

I had asked Lisa Tomlin for an Asian/Japanese woman, but the gold flower
in her hair does make her look more like a Hawaiian/local Wahine.

"Delilah" definitely has titanium scales.

Thanks again and the photos look gggggrrreat, Keith

There you have it!

INCREDIBLE display Coop! Also, I hadn't perused this thread since your vacation. Good for you and Susan, and Congrats on the climbing honors!

Thanks,

Good news, and bad news.

Bad news: With my current Fall afternoon coaching and weekend rowing regatta schedule, and with the pending Boston Art Knife Classic Show on the 16th, I am unable to do ANY new work for my clients until late October or possibly early November. (More news on this show in a thread soon). I have looked at my schedule, and it's already filled.

It is a disappointment to have to turn away any client, but like makers who have backorders, I simply do not have the time to produce more work in this period.

I need to just say no. I appreciate the understanding.

Good news: I'm busy as ever. The boys I coach are ready to win, and I have a LOT of great knives to show from the past busy weeks.

I have updated my website Gallery, and have upwards of 5800 images to view.

I will add a few posts of my latest work from prominent dealers. Right now, best I can do....

A rare treat. Many will find these an acquired taste. She is at the far left in our circles, and makes no apologies.

Since early Fall, I have created images for many of my clients, all whose work was shown in individual threads scattered about the forum. I'd like to add them in here all to find them more easily. :)

They all deserve more than just a looksee, but search them out and you'll get the whole story....
