Photos SharpByCoop's Gallery of Handmade Knives

I have a number of unshown works from before the Blade Show and some after. I've been SO busy playing catch-up and fulfillment, I've not updated this satisfying thread. :)

Salem: My thoughts entirely!

Will do, ASAP. Stay posted.

I wrote and posted a LENGTHY thread with all the portfolio images from the our last Blade Show/2013. Please visit:

I've worked on quite a few other projects in the meantime. Let's take a look:

Bob Crowder shows us how to achieve CLEAN.

Ken Erickson was proud of this humpback split whittler. As he SHOULD be!

Little-known on this forum, Steven Skiff is meticulous in his fit and finish. Nice design and execution for this longtime PA maker.

love that last photo :)

John Cohea made this incredible 'bear jaw' bowie and sheath. Historical knives are his specialty and he gives it 110%.

We don't see enough of Jim Hammond's work. An especially talented designer and craftsman, his 'Flesheater'™ series of combat knives is up to five models. His website tells more.

When you reach ABS Mastersmith quality, you are expected to produce something special. Bruce Bump NEVER lets us down, and often surprises even the most attentive.
(Paul Long and Jere Davidson make their recognizable appearances, too.)

Below, Bruce used the skills of rifle expert Gary Goudy for the checkering, and the sheath was made by talented Claud Scott from Bruce's hometown of Walla Walla, WA.

Please comment if they made you smile. :)

Coop -- those Bumps wearing their Sunday best made me smile. Great shots! Love the Damascus on that first one.

Thanks.

Seth

I'll admit, they made me smile Coop.
The damascus patterns on the Bumps look amazing, but there's something about the cleanness of those Ted Moore folders that I love. Love the filework on that first one too!

Hi Friends,

Here's a few that have gotten pages of comments in separate threads. Deservedly discussed and displayed outright.

Like a good song, I like to replay them. :D

Patrice Lemee (from Quebec, Canada) had a W.I.P thread for this beauty:

Bill Buxton built this Arkansas toothpick. It's HIS Missouri version... ;)

This one is a first to be seen from me: John Horrigan crafted this amazing dagger for a wealthy overseas client. It did a boomerang trip to my studio first.

Next up some news...

I'm really excited that Dr. David Darom and others have contacted me for work that will be in his upcoming book on Women in Handmade Knives: Makers and Collectors. (I forget the exact title, but mine is a correct descriptive.) :)

A delightful book visually, this one will breach into making Custom Knives more accessible to our partners and friends. Win, win, WIN!

Secondly, I'm going away on a yearly family vacation this week for ten days. I'll probably be an observer here, but unable to do any studio or file work. Spotty internet out at sea.... ;)

That said, I'll gorge you with a delicious visual meal that will leave you content, satisfied, and breathless while I'm away.

Stand ready....

Jim

Wow, what a treat! Thanks Coop - as always your work does great service to these incredible pieces of art. Hope you have a wonderful (and well-deserved) vacation!

Coop- for a man on vacation you're sure leaving us with something to ogle at.

A dagger fest! And that fixed blade Bennica is some sleek work.

Thanks for sharing!

Hello friends,

I'm pecking away while sitting in an airport waiting for our flight in a couple of hours. We had a VERY exciting cruise, and I'll update this post with a photo or three soon.

I missed the knife community. We met a great couple from NJ who we enjoyed a few dinners. I pulled out my iPad and described this passion of ours, and my work. Of course at first mention it was met with raised eyebrows...

However, after showing a partial sampling from my pending book*, my new buddy needed to have me give him the date and time of the next NYCKS. :D He'll be there! Not surprising. I gave him a potent dose of a powerful drug. ;) Spread the love.

I'm returning to a waiting list of work to be accomplished, and I look forward to the tasks.

* Pending book? Best time for me to find, or rather, MAKE the time for this is December. By then I'll have another thousand subjects to select from, and my process will be complicated again. LOL! Believe me I want to do something, and although it won't be filled with text, it will tell 'thousands of words' stories.

Thanks for your views. This thread grows like a plant.
