Sharpened your Hinderer? Let's see the edge...

Sorry, I read Jensen's post and it made me chuckle - I couldn't resist..

(Edit - now that I'm much older than when this movie came out, is it just me or is Ferris a smarmy little S**t?)

Thanks. :) Went from 400 to 2000 grit then stropped on leather loaded with cheap chromium (II) oxide compound.

^ sweet. Now you got me wanting a mirror edge. I'm going to put one on my slicer today. :) nice pics by the way!

Ok fellas...I'd like to know. Is the mirror worth the effort? I never have polished an XM's cutting edge (in any steel) to a mirror and find they take and hold an edge nicely. Benefits of the beautiful mirrored edge?

The actual mirror edge- purely an aesthetic.
The process of "mirroring" the edge - Hobby.
IMO

^ I agree. I've done it many times myself. No benefit other than aesthetics. I actually prefer a "toothy" edge on my hinderers.

I find that mirror cuts smoother and cleaner compared to a low grit finish, then again that's my personal preference. Low grit for aggressive slicing, polished for push cutting.

Late to a promise of a pic. Here is a WEPS tune up to my WE Wharnie which will slice anything with ease.

BTW: Lower holes, Flat attitude blade horizontal on plane and 22* per/side

I have experienced very few sharper edges than this one. I would put it in the top three (3) ever.
