sharpening systems used by Beckerheads???

I use the Sharpmaker, Diamond to reprofile, coarse, fine and then ultrafine, I am also going to get a strop soon. I have not got it as sharp as I want still kind of practicing. I have never convexed so I might try out Derek's method too.

Right now I use Spyderco Ceramic bench stones.
Just got a set of paper wheels yesterday, I'm looking forward to trying those out.

I send all my Beckers to Chuck Norris, the only thing on the planet tuff enough to properly sharpen a Becker... Oh him and Ethan Becker! :D

Same here, but with the diamond hones.

I stumbled upon derekh's method while browsing through the forums and tried it out a few days ago, and let me say, I'm sold, its puts a pretty wicked convex edge on my knives and a leather strop is a must as far as I'm concerned

I really don't know how to sharpen like all ya'll pros here. But I'm learning slowly and surely. Here's what I have on hand:

Lansky Deluxe Sharpener

Work Sharp Knife and Tool Sharpener

Norton Combo Grit Bench Stone

That's all for now!

I just bought the Lansky Deluxe myself. Can u clamp in the BK2?

I use my Lansky on my BK2. You have to use the longer lock down screw and make sure the 2 clamp pieces are paralell before you start. Don't panic.... my BK2 was nowhere near the 20 degree angle (per my Lansky clamp).

Awesome! Glad someone else is getting some use outta that thread. I have been putting a convex on my FPR BK16 that way for the last day or so. Sometimes it takes a bit to dial in that edge right to where you want it, but once you get it there, man, there ain't nothing like it.

Newb to this forum, but I've used a Lansky for most all of my knives since ~1992. It takes very little effort to create a scary-sharp edge, and once I hit the strop it's even scarier. I started with the basic 3-stone kit (+ serrated-edge stone), went through a set of diamond replacements, and settled on a 4-stone (non-diamond) rotation of coarse, medium, fine, and extra-fine. The latter is only used when showing off. ;)

I have had some awesome results with the Razor Sharp Edgemaking System. It's extremely versatile and easy to learn. I use this same system for all my knives, as well as my hawks and axes to seriously finishing my lawnmower blades. I keep my DMT diafold sharpeners in my bags for use in the field/camp, but if I am at home, everything that needs an edge gets hit with the wheels.

Edge Pro by Apex - he says that everyone else with a similar system copied him, and i can believe it ;)

otherwise, for big blades, esp choppers like khuks and axes, i use the "work sharp" system.

bought them with my own money. i don't get promo points for saying so, free grit, or even t-shirts. i just like the results.

down the road, i might get a KMG type system, cuz, seriously, time is money == life, and i'd rather just have sharp knives, than spend ages getting it done. that means less sandpaper and stones and more power tools and methods that guarantee fixed angles/etc.

Thanks for the info, Blunt Forged Edge and Monofletch. I have a BK2 sitting in a online shopping cart waiting for me. Waiting for my paypal debit card to get mailed to me, it's linked to my ebay selling account that I use to make a little "toy" fund.

I have the Work Sharp Knife and Tool Sharpener. Works great on the BK2, BK9, and BK7. It's the only thing that will sharpen the BK2 worth a damn (that I can use). Don't get the belt kits from Amazon, order direct from the company as you can get a 6 pack of just the medium belts, which are your bread and butter.

When I had Becky out last weekend (my BK9) we were clearing a spot for the hammocks. My freind was using his laplander, but Becky was going through saplings like a laser beam.
