Sharpening Systems- What is best.

RE: Precision Adjust- I saw an after market magnetic table at Gritomatic, which would eliminate the clamp for smaller knives maybe?
777Edge what say you?
Agreed, the magnetic table for the Work Sharp precision adjust from Gritomatic does a great job.

Hapstone -wise, I would seriously look at the Hapstone R2 lite if I were you stipe82 stipe82 . They are excellent systems and as far as I know, Gritomatic has stock now.

talk to dad about hapstone if you wanna risk ordering, a buyer protected method of payment would be smart. A call to Gritomatic to see when stock will be in would be worth a minute.
Ok is he a member here?

Check out the Kazak Model 100. TS Prof like system that takes it to the next level. Not inexpensive --- $700+, but worth if you have some extra cash laying around.

I've never used the G3 Pro. I like the simplicity of the WE130 - fewer things that can go wrong.
Actually I went from the 130 to the gen3 Pro and fewer things can go wrong with the Pro3. It may look more complex and it is in a way but it still outperforms the other systems and is easier to keep the same angle on both sides and a lot easier to adjust angles on.

The trouble with almost all of these other systems besides the wicked edge is that they allow for sharpening only one side of the blade at a time, and then the blade is repositioned. Sharpening one side at a time means that they take twice as long to udo the same job. And repositioning the blade means inaccuracy between sides. I don't think any of the systems that do either of these things are as good as the WE. I have an electronic angle gauge and it verifies the accuracy to far less then 1 degree between sides. With the quick adjustment of the angle I can even replicate an appleseed grind and it smooths out with the use of the leather strops and polishing pastes. I put an adge on a Cold Steel Master Tanto that rivals the cutting ability of my Rockstead Kom knife, and I have never seen anything else cut like that knife.

I never had a G3 Pro so I don't know. I chose the WE130 mainly because I can profile asymmetrical bevels with it. I also bought the great aftermarket angle slides and other stuff. You can see it in post# 41.
The accuracy on mine stays perfect. Some people have problems with the angle slide screws loosening up on them. I never had that problem. When I buy stuff, the first thing that I do when I open the box is check all of the screws, sand the ends, and clean them up nice.

000Robert 000Robert , I am fairly sure vjb.knife vjb.knife is referring to a convex grind.

On the point of Convex grinds for the Wicked Edge, using aftermarket stones - I'm actually working on a convex grind stone holder for the Wicked Edge system. It will be similar to the Leading Edge series stone holders for Wicked Edge that I designed for Gritomatic.

These are the stone holders that I designed for Wicked Edge, sold by Gritomatic. They allow endless aftermarket stone options on the Wicked Edge system.

My convex holder will work as an add-on part to these stone holders.

Those look cool. I prefer V-grinds, but thanks for letting me know about them just in case.

I'll bet by now the OP has dropped out of the conversation while others are still going strong here. haha.

I like the Tormek because it is faster. I still take at least 30min (i don't time it, have no idea, tbh) to do a knife, but it is with much less effort.

So I decided to pull the trigger and buy once cry once. Purchased from here https://www.gritomatic.com/products/tsprof-k03-pro-black-knife-sharpener

Here is my list

TSProf K03 Pro.JPG

I read this review and would really like to chat with this person but unfortunately his review was anonymous from San Diego, United States.

TSProf K03 PRO [BLACK] Knife Sharpener
Let me preface this review by saying that I've been sharpening knives for years and have used/ own Japanese Whetstones, the Wicked Edge Pro-Pack III along with the Tormek T-8. I was looking for a guided system to replace my Wicked Edge as there were things it was lacking in capabilities that I wanted in a different system. That's where the TSPROF K-03 caught my eye. After having used it for a bit now and having sharpened quite a few knives, I can easily say it's by far the best guided system on the market. I could list out ALL the benefits it has over the Wicked Edge but this review would be VERY long, so I'll spare you all the novel. What I will say is that I am extremely happy with this purchase and VERY impressed with the results it produces. With that being said, I am using the Venev Orion CBN stones which are absolutely amazing... so those without a doubt make the sharpening process more enjoyable and produce fantastic results. But with regard to the sharpener itself, it's as I said above: the best guided system I have used and that I believe is available on the market today. Everything about it screams quality and is incredibly well thought out and built to perform. I have zero changes I would make to it and I am seriously impressed with the performance, overall look and ability it has to produce an amazing edge on basically any knife. If you've been considering purchasing this specific sharpener, I would say don't think about it anymore.... just buy it and you'll be so glad you did. This sharpener is not cheap, but you're honestly getting every bit of what you pay for and more. If you're like me, many of the knives I own cost more than this system and stones put together... so why wouldn't you have the sharpening system/ stones to match that same quality and re-produce the edges those specific knives deserve. I hope this review helps someone who's considering this system but isn't quite sure yet or even the person who is just now stumbling across it and looking for more information/ wondering if it's worth it. It 100% is and I personally couldn't be happier with it. And that's being said after currently owing every one of its competitors in the similar price point. The TSPROF K-03 is the best, period.

Then left this review on the sharpening stones as well
Venev Orion³ Series Resin CBN Full Set for Edge Pro
These stones are absolutely fantastic. I've used Japanese whetstones for a long time along with the Wicked Edge system and the stones they have and they don't even hold a candle to the Venev Orion CBN stones. These stones cut super fast, have great feedback, produce ridiculous results and will last basically forever. They're definitely an investment, but if you're passionate about sharpening, knives in general and just want the best... look no further- these are them.

Huge congratulations, you have the absolute cream of the crop there and I can't imagine that you'll be sorry once you receive and use it.

The TSProf K03 is an excellent system and the Venev Orion CBN stones are phenomenal stones.

The Pro Black K03 kit comes with the Titanium stone rod and Axicube-i, which you'll also love I'm sure. It also comes with a nice beefy Gritomatic handle which feels a lot nicer in the hand than the original small wooden TSProf handle. The new rack and pinion on this model is also very nice. I think you also get a Gritomatic set of hex drivers with it, again - great quality stuff.

Let us know how you like it once you've used it.

Thank you very much! I am really looking forward to using it. The mirror edge I saw someone put on their knife with this using the stones I purchased are insane. I am happy to know that I can use just water on the stones and the strop and was told I can use a pin drop of soap on the stones to keep them clean. Bar Keepers Friend to clean the stones. I have done a ton of research but personally have nothing to compare it to, so I guess I am spoling myself right out the gate. I am interested in being able to sharpen sissors also, I believe I have to get an attachment for that.

This is what it says the kit comes with.

Yes, you'll have to get a scissors attachment for that. TSProf has one for the K03 and Kadet, but I would recommend you look at this as a more versatile option:

With this upgrade and magnetic platform you can sharpen scissors or any hard to clamp knives, fillet knives and knives that require incredibly low sharpening angles which are not achievable in a clamp.

Nice, looks like a simple and effective design. Will you have a booth at Blade Show Atlanta this year?
