Sharpest EDC

My edc a Gayle Bradley 1 came very sharp but the Manix 2 Maxamet was probably the sharpest out of the box.

My Civivi Naja takes a 15 DPS edge quite easily. I was surprised at how easy the 9CR18MOV was to sharpen.

Sharpest one for me is para 2 in s110v.

Opinel no8 garden knife,is one of my best cutters, its thinned out on stone, takes great clean edge, holds it well and easy to sharpen.No2 is victorinox alpineer ,cuts great and easy to sharpen, you can literally shave with these knives.

Delica Wharncliffe in HAP 40 gets crazy sharp. Worn away a decent bit of metal so I sharpened to the point that the secondary bevels were tall enough again,
this process of hand sharpening knocked the "shoulders" of transition between primary and secondary down enough to convex the edge a bit, Japanese Water stones to polish the
bevel, remove burs and set up a bit of micro bevel (really just hitting the apex a bit to straighten and de-bur) without taking all the benefits of convex away.

The next day at work I guess I "forgot" the 3-4 hours of sharpening from the night before.
I went to cut a piece of flexible conduit (carflex) like I normally do: Half way through in a reverse carving/ skinning style grip, and then finish the cut by holding the two free ends in one hand
like rope and cutting away from myself. Instead, I didn't pay close enough attention I remember not watching the cut with concentration, just glancing down to make sure I was on my "sharpie mark"
Hardly felt the knife go through at all, looked down, and instead of half way through the conduit it was all the way through the conduit with a good start on a fresh fillet of thumb meat :D
Knives are sharp. Pay attention and cut away from yourself! o_O :D:p

All of my knives are scary sharp, but my Cruwear Delica takes the cake with the thin blade!

Mine would be my large sebenza gabon.

It's always on me, so at work when I sharpen my knives I polish the sebenza.

Ok, you win

Mine would be my buck 110fg. After sharping on stones I spent some time on the strop, mainly learning how to strop. Made a similar mistake as Korean Hog Korean Hog . I was cutting through3 large wire ties. Never felt any resistance until my wedding ring. I should have gotten stitches but I used super glue instead as I was setting up for field day.

This one is very sharp and slicey.
Almost zero ground.
I got the first bite deep to the bone.
I should have had it stitched, but superglue worked good enough to keep the wound closed.

sharpest ive seen is spyderco's h1 on the salt model. has anyone had similar experience with spyderco h1 steel?

Yes. It takes a crazy edge but can't hold it once you cut anything.

In my experience, Spyderco is the manufacturer with the best edges out of the box. I don't know how they do it.

In terms of knives that can get even sharper than that, and stay that way for a bit, I find it's easy to make an Opinel absurdly sharp. You could drop $20 on an Opie and a ceramic rod and win the Sharpness Olympics.

My new Kershaw Launch 8 is definitely in the top 5 sharpest OTB. Probably #3. CPM-154 really takes a sharp edge, especially on a thin blade.

Thanks, Neal
