In your opinion, out of all the knives you have, or had, which one was the sharpest straight out of the box?

For me it's no contest, but it is a "tie" my rocksteads, surprisingly though out of all my other knives the least expensive knife in my collection a Mcusta Katana (also a Japanese knife) is the runner up beating out a LOT of significantly more expensive knives.

Honorable mention to the ColdSteel Mini Tuff Lite. So little material behind the edge...

For daggers it is no contest the last two Special Editions/Anniversary models Gerber Mark IIs: The 2002 SE and the 70th Anniversary: They are perfectly zero edged, with amazing sharpness all the way to the point. The edge geometry is just amazing for daggers... The 20th anniversary versions are probably nearly as good, but canted and less broadly flared, so probably a little less sharp. The image below suggests a slight beveling, but in fact it is hardly visible.

I needed a kitchen knife for the 12th Man-Cave... (AKA basement set up for Seahawks Sundays)... something I could abuse and leave in the sink for a week.

Called up Spark over at One Stop Knife Shop and got a couple of Cold Steel kitchen knives... IIRC something like the K-5? Little 5 inch jobbie with a Kraton handle in VG-1.

Thing came out of the box stupid sharp. Wife was instantly scared of it. It cost me like $20 and had no business being this sharp. One of my friends was so impressed with it that I gave her one.

It had a better season than the Seahawks did, and my Hawks had a pretty damn fine season. Sharpened back up to laser-esque sharpness in a jiffy too.

Just gave the other one away to a chef buddy of mine last weekend, and he said the same thing as me. "Holy $%!& this thing is sharp!"

Without a doubt a Buck 110 in S30V from their custom shop I had made for my Grandson when he graduated high school.

Agreed. My Buck 110 in 420 came razor sharp. I've cut myself twice playing with it.

Agree with Buck's 420HC as well. Have a little Bucklite Max (673) that I EDC now and then. It was a hair popper out of the box. Another $20 well spent.

I'd have to say pretty much any knife from Survive Knives . My GSO 5 came literally shaving sharp and it seems everyone says the same thing about any of the Survive GSO line . Great knives

It was an SS Case 5 blade Sowbelly. That thing bit me three separate times trying to set it up for pictures.

M390 Ritter Grip.
It'll cut you if you look at it wrong.
Benchmade has got the grind on these down.

I'll echo those saying Buck 110, Mora (companion for me), and I'll add my Spyderco Delica...

All of those could shave a clean patch on the arm with just one stroke. Great, very sharp knives, and none of them too pricey either.

heck, My S110V Manix was not as sharp as the Delica. For that matter, having sharpened both plenty of times, it still isn't.

I'm with Barman1. My M390 Ritter Mini bit me ferociously the other day. Just messing around I pushed the blade through a rose stem, index finger on spine with my thumb on other side of stem, and when it went through it pushed pretty deep into my thumb. No slice needed, just a push cut right through the skin. To say the least it surprised me.

Pinewood forge Sloyd knife and hook knife. Non of my other knives compare. Most I thought were sharp out of the box, but non have been close to as sharp as those two.

O.B.
