Sharpmaker video: two thumbs up.

Just got my video today and just finished watching it. (Hmmm, takes 9 days to send from Golden to Toronto according to this date stamp. Interesting) It is very good indeed. Just like the booklet but in video form and with Sal doing all the demonstrations. Runtime is about 45 minutes with 3 small Spyderco comercials at the end. And yes, Sal is very relaxed and poised doing all the demonstrations. Only complaint is that there were no camera shots capturing things from Sal, or the user's point of view and the zoom's could have been a little closer for true amateurs who know absolutely nothing about knife sharpening. Otherwise, very good job, well done.

Sal-

I've got to second everyone else's praise. Loved the tape, found it clarified a lot that I didn't quite get from the manual (me being pretty dense), and WAY more production value than I expected for the price I paid.

Thanks for such a class act, Sal.

Thanx for the support. Took quite a few really good people to make that tape.

In speaking with Sharpmaker owners, we realized that more often than not, the owners weren't getting the best results simply because they didn't understand the tool. those that did get good results, more often than not had seen a demo.

We had hoped that a video demo would provide better instruction than manuals.

We wish you a "Spyderco Sharp" experience with the Sharpmaker.

Sal-

I am a custorer. This year I have bought Civilian, G-10 Harpy, 2xEndura, Calypso jr, Moran and the sharpmaker but

I have not yet registered. Reason is as always with registration cards from USA. Slots for address don't suit for my address. There are for instance no slot for country... The actually very small bother to go to post office to buy airmail stamps don't encourage registrations.

I will edit registration card a bit and send it with that video note!

I assumed that you don't send videos abroad.
Your vaunted customer service is better than I thought! NO other American company has offered this kind of service to me before!

If Spyderco only made a batch of plain edged Civilians... THAT would be even better service!

Excellent video and good commercials. I was also quite impressed that Sal was carrying 2 Spydercos.

I made sure my wife saw that part and explained "See there, it's 2 Spydies for every pair of pants."

So how do thoes of us with the older Sharpmaker 203 go about getting the video?? I'm all thumbs when it comes to sharpening knives, and need all the help I can get!!!!!

Just picked up a new Endura at the BX yesterday as they were on sale for $29.95 and could not pass that price up. Much better construction than the old Endura that was lost when the clip broke (long story). Anyway there was no mention of the Sharpmaker video with the info that was included with the endura.

I asked the BX customer service (F.E. Warren AFB)to order the Military but I was told they could not get that knife. Now how do I go about getting them to get the Military in stock. Or are there other bases in the Denver area that stock the Military???

Tommi - it would probably be easier to Email the guarantee request & info. Note to Angela or Verna that I suggested you do so. Will save time & money. Probably a good idea to remind them that it's PAL.

We are also partnered with a very good distributor for Finland that can also assist if you have a problem. His numbers can be obtained from the Spyderco.com website.

Shrike - The bases only carry certain models and the Military has not been one of them.

In the Denver area, you could contact any of the closest knife dealers or take a drive up to the Facoty Outlet in Golden.

Regarding the sale of the video, dealers haven't expressed much interest. Enough ELUs (& Bruce) have requested them that SFO is carrying them. You'll have to contact Charlie or Christy at the store. I don't know prices or procedures.

Stoped in at a knife shop in Ft Collins today and the wife about had a cow when she found out the price for a military was $179.00 + tax. (even when I showed her spyderco's web page W/price she just grunted) Guess I'll just start saving spare change untill she lets me get one.

One of these days I'm planing on taking a trip down to Golden just to check out the factory and showroom. Just need to figure out where the mall is so the wifey poo will be happy.

Thanks for the links, I'm new to this web ordering thing and extremly leery of getting "burnt" by a dealer I found by a search engine.

Any other recommended places to purchase from on line?????

After watching the video I put an unbelievable (before now) edge on a WWll KaBar that my dad carried as a Marine, and had used for about every task imaginable.Pretty impressive.

Shrike- if you're driving down to Ft. Collins, keep on driving and go to the SFO store in Golden. You'll find that the prices are better than what you're quoting for the Ft. Collins store.
