I don't know how Nozh is doing it, but when I was playing around with an angled stone (I used wedges under a japanese waterstone holder, not as nice as Nozh's setup because the wedges tended to slide somewhat) I was holding the handle parallel to the ground/table. Since you are looking from the top, you can not really see whether the blade is parallel anyways, but you get a petty good feel for it, when you hold the handle parallel to the ground.
I glue to my base leather on each side so it will not slide - you may see it on picture.

Yes, your setup is much more sophisticated than what I have used. I just used a simple wooden wedge underneath the base I was using anyways. I got the idea one day when I say pictures of a japanese blade smith sharpening a Katana. They work on the floor but otherwise they use the same technique as you do.
I replied to your email, but when I wanted to sent the email of I found out that the movie is 235 MB large. How do I get this smaller. I have never worked with movies, only with pictures. I took the movie with my regular film camera.
