Shave of the day?

Just be careful of the fasterbation pimples:p yes there is a chance that you will rub you smooth cleanly shaven face so much that you will cause pimples.

I'm glad I'm not the only "REAL" man using a ladies razor. After having a beard for 5 years, it's strange even thinking about razors and shaving cream again. Looking forward to tomorrow morning for another shave, I think the WS/DE bug has bitten me bad.

The key with DE shaving is to let the weight of the head do the work. With the long handle on the lady star razors, you get more leverage for the head to do its thing. It's a beneficial design. I wish they'd made a black one like it for men...

So far I'm having good luck with it, until I perfect my technique I'm going to stick to this razor but someday I'll replace it with a more manly adjustable or something along that line.

I currently use a Fat Boy. I just can't bring myself to use the pink Lady Star that I bought for my wife...

Had another try with that Muehle...only two bloody nicks this time.... angle is certainly key with his razor otherwise it's too ferocious, does shave ultra close though.

Men U Synthetic brush (these are not to be dismissed they're very good)
Taylor Of Old Bond Street 'St James'
Feather, unused
Styptic pencil for the wounds...
Moisturizer for the rest

You really HAVE to concentrate with this razor and be slow!

Hey guys!

I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in...

Many thanks to whoever sprung for my membership renewal. That was pretty awesome of you.

oh yes I am a smoothly shaven sandalwood smellin' suave fool now! :D Merkur Vision, Astra blade. Practiced on the back of my hand first since no real gradient settings on that Vision - started at the diamond and the "V" setting. Took 2 passes on the sideburn area, 4 on the moustache and beard areas, wtg / xtg / atg. No cuts, hardly any burn, needs to be closer on the left side next time. I could literally hear each hair pop off the razor - quite interesting. using the brush feels fantastic. this is great stuff!!!

Can't. Stop. Touching. My face! LOL

can still feel stubble against the grain on some parts but next shave! it's yard work time with the machete! have a good one out there in shave land!

2nd shave bumped it up one to the dot and rewarded with closer shave than before. startted to get razor bumps/burn but they go away quickly. I think I will stay at this setting for now. was less than successful raising a good lather using the soap with alum but didn't spend enough time frothing (and didn't pre-soak the puck). the Truefitt (?) cream was much easier and felt better. using a silvertip Golddachs brush and find it amazing in softness but also can be stiff when needed to work the lather on/into the face. I used to electric shave every day and want to wet shave again today but probably should rest my face? hard to resist though.

Ever had one of those shaves where you're amazed you didn't nick yourself? It's been stressful around here lately as I have a family member in the hospital. Got like zero sleep but as it quieted down I looked forward to the shave. Well, halfway through - doorbell! Dog going nuts. I try to remain composed and finished the first pass a little hurried. Contractor showed up like 2 hours early! Clean up and do the meet. I have to climb up onto the roof to take pics, it's blazing hot. Ok appointment over let's get back to the shave - the cream is still good :) Nearly finish 2nd pass but again - doorbell! Dog going even more nuts. W.T.H. Clean up rub on the sandalwood go downstairs. Whoa nice looking mail lady hands me the mail, nice smile as she leaves, hmmm :D

Ok back upstairs, perspiring, heartbeat like just finished a marathon. Not happy with shave, tempt fate by clicking up half a notch. Much more razor bumps already forming, strokes going all over trying to get to bottom of leftover stubble. Weeper forms. Apply styptic (amazing stuff) and done for the day. Oh yeah, was using the Art of Shaving cream got yesterday - lathered up almost instantly I like it for that but the Truefitt smells and feels better. I think. argh.

Bright side the nice mail lady delivered IP Reds and other goodies. Looking forward to trying those as having irritation with the Astras.

DE razors are not as dangerous as the marketing guys led so many people to believe. I can count he number of nicks I have had on both hands in my time shaving with a DE razor. That says a lot because my face has some serious obstacles and I spent a number of weeks shaving with my off hand after elbow surgery. Even then the big nicks I got were oddities, I got a big scrape on my ear lobe from a bit of flashing on the wing of the blade, and I caught the side of my nose because of an unexpected sneeze. Most of my nicks were a mole on my cheek and I only catch it if I get dopey and try shave against the grain over it, or I have a small zit/bug bite and I for get about it while shaving. If I remember about them I never catch them.

I'd have to agree. It was their job to convert the masses to cartridges / multi-blades and the various industries have been reaping massive benefits since. Guess I'm lucky, so far the only cuts I've had came from a double bladed disposal when I was forcing it and putting to much pressure. that made me go back to the electric. haven't touched it again so far though!

and woot - just got a mint FatBoy Gillette with original case! same one my Dad used to have but cannot be located :( Lock up is tight, adjuster smooth, I love the magnifier on the case. Always thinking of you Dad!

btw anyone cut their own hair? I got one of those Wahl kits from Costco and so far have done half a dozen on myself, with my wife helping to do the back. Getting better at it. Went back to the gals at the shop once missing that experience. At another shop here they give you a nice neck and shoulder massage too.

Look at my avatar, does it look like I cut my hair:p

oh hahaha unky that's a good one! :p

well I claim a loss today. tried the Personna Platinum blade and while less irritating was not as close as the Astra Platinums. For curiousity I used the electric and it did take the remaining stubble down. Maybe I need to wait to DE every other day. Slight victory #1 splashed on the Lucky Tiger followed with the Nivea Balm and like the combo. Now off to pay the infernal revadoodoo service their quarterly pounds of flesh.

Was in a bit of a hurry this morning, so, as I've posted here previously, I skipped the brush and lather routine for a couple spritzes of King of Shaves Kinexium Shave Oil. If any of my fellow DE aficionados have any experience with this product, they, like I, might find the scent less than pleasant. But, when in a hurry, it does a serviceable job.

Today, I decided to experiment by adding 4-5 drops of Shave Secret with the Kinexium. The result was a combination of the Kinexium's smooth shave with the pleasant scent and warming sensation of the Shave Secret.

So for those running behind, I'd recommend giving this mixture a try.

Razor: Gillette Black Beauty 6 setting
Blade: Feather
Two squirts Kinexium mixed with 4-5 drops Shave Secret
After: Thayer's Lemon

No hurry here whatsoever.

Nice, relaxing shave. Smooth.......real smooth.

1959 Gillette Fatboy, fresh Feather, boar brush, finished off with some Lemon Thayer's and a shot or two of Florida water.

I was about to give up on the Gillette adjustables until I cranked them up past 5. The seven setting seems to be custom built for me. I have three now; two Fatboys and a Slim.

Nirvana.
