I copied this from a previous post, and realized it needed to be the start of a new thread :)
Feel free to show off your shaving sharp Bucks, and the resulting shave :)

Inspired by Bighaze and his shaving sharp vantage....
This 2013 CSAR-T 690 came from the factory hair popping sharp.
Today, 2/16/2014, I gave it a test....

Tactical shave :)

690 with factory edge On 3 days of beard growth.

Factory edge provided a pretty darn good shave, and a dry shave to boot!
Shaving cream would have been cheating....hahaha

2013 301 factory edge sheepsfoot blade on 1 day of beard growth 2/17/2014

Stockman shave :)

A little longer beard growth seems to shave off easier, but still the 301 did a good.job :)

Chris, you are awesome! I'm not sure I want to get all the goop in my Vantage pivot but I'm thinking it's time for my 119 to get a polished razor edge on it. I'm going to wait until the weekend in case I mar my face. I'm used to my Wade and Butcher straight but the knife I think will take a little more finesse

Hahaha, I probably have a few screws loose in the noggin'.....
I definately think it takes more finesse, and I got a couple nicks in the expiriments....but a little blood never hurt anything :)

2009 415 factory edge on 2 days of beard growth 2/19/14

Kalinga shave :)

LOL!
I need to obtain another 124 first, and then I would for sure...... my dad gave me one when I turned 16, and I, in turn, gave it to my little brother about 16 years later, when he turned 16. I used the heck out of that knife on endless camping and backpacking trips!!

I hate shaving. Only do it a couple times a week, shaving cream gives me a rash, so I have dry shaved for many years.
And I have a goatee just to have less to shave too :)

I figure since I see posts of people complaining that their knife didn't come sharp enough, this thread can be proof that the factory edge is fine Indeed, and also hand sharpened 420HC etc is great too ;)

In a few days, I am thinking a 110 handsharpened will be next. Gotta grow more hair to shave first :D

wow......factory edge on your 301. My 301 was barely able to cut paper when I got it. Vantage and 110 both came shaving sharp. Hit or miss I guess.

Yep, all three blades came the same sharpness, and all 3 worked for shaving facial hair, but I used the sheepsfoot for 90% of the shave.

Next up.....

2013 271 touched up with 1000 grit ceramic stone on 3 days beard growth 2/22/14
This is one of my favorite edc knives :)

Alpha Dorado

S30V shave :)

Nice! I attempted the vantage this morning but my sensative skin didn't like it too much. I finished up with the Wade and Butcher straight.

It definately helps to have "not sensitive skin" (weather beaten from dry windy desert conditions)
I looked up your straight razor. Hollow ground, just like our Bucks ;)

I am starting to think if I shave only with my Buck knives, I could save money usually spent on shaving razors, and spend the money on more Buck knives instead....... Bwahahahahha!!

I'm thinking the shape of the vanguard would make it a nice shaver
My Wade and Butcher was made prior to 1890. Can't really date it past that. It's my favorite!
I've also been plotting to make a razor from a worn out 2dot 112 blade.

Hmmmm.... I have a 1993 Vanguard I bought new in the store back in '93 :)
It recently visited the spa too, so has a factory edge to test!
You just picked my next test subject, when I have facial hair to shave again....

The Alpha Dorado S30V sure did a great job, just as good as a quad blade razor.

Wow, 1890 or earlier.... makes you wonder if it was ever used in a wild west barber shop! The stories it could tell.

Next.....

Pre 1986, 701 factory edge sheepsfoot blade, 425 steel on 2 days beard stubble, 2/24/14

The fun continues with a Mustang shave :)

Vanguard shave

This daring and well illustrated with excellent close photography has my shaving habits on full stop. Congrats, you have broken my one bad habit, shaving. Thank you kindly. :)

Ok, time for another installment of "crazy enough to shave with a knife".

Starring the most popular Buck of all time :)

The Venerable 110

In particular a 2013 finger groove 110 in 420HC, handsharpened on my 1000 grit ceramic stone.

Good job Chris, not many guys can achieve face shaving results. Don't get it too sharp cause you know women and razors...:p Your knives will end up missing!
