Sheath Makers and Leatherworkers: How do you do your stitching?

I pre punch my holes in my drill press but I don't use a drill. I use a stitching needle. The drill press makes a nice straight hole and the needle doesn't remove any leather, same as punching with an awl. I can use the press with or without the chuck spinning.
