Sheath making part 1

Thanks for the wonderful tutorial. Are there any online vendors you recommend for supplies?

You should be able to get almost anything you need from Tandy Leather. If you plan to buy tools and other supplies to get started I would buy into Tandy's wholesale club, it is only 30.00 and you get discounts on about everything, it will probably pay for itself on your first order.

I dont buy any leather from them, I get all of my leather from Wickett and Craig. The W/C leather is the most consistent I have found, plus the tannery is only about 30 miles from me and I can go and pick out my own leather.

Whatever leather you get make sure it is vegetable tanned.

Thanks for the information. I'm starting the process of making my first knife today so sheath making is something I'll need to learn as well. :)

Wow this was a nice post to bring back from the dead. It makes me want to try to make a sheath. :)

What's with all the thread resurrections lately by users with low post counts??? At least this is a gem of an old post...

I am glad too! I never saw this before and it is amazing how much work is involved. Thank you for all of your hard work Chuck!

I'm actually glad that there are some new members/lurkers who DO READ old threads.
I find it really annoying when someone new just comes in and asks a thousand questions of which 99% have already been answered multiple times (some even a day before...)

When I got here, I took my time reading up and didn't join in the conversations until I had something to say...

Chud,

Very nice!

I was amazed how the whole thing did not look like much in the early stages and then...pow, it turned out amazing.

Have admired your work for some time and will commission a "bear" someday!
