Shields on Display!

Charlie I don't mean to be rude. But what the hell is going to happen to your magnificent collection when you hit the sod? Just wondering.

I'm taking them with me, Invoice!:D

Some really nice knives with great shields, I am not too sure if I have anything that you Charlie, or any of our great Traditional friends here would really consider the shield rare, but heres a few anyhow....

John Lloyd - Acorn shield, another Forum member has this knife ( I think in a give-away )..

There are ever so slight variations of the Federal Shield - I personally think this one is bang on - I Love everything about this knife..

Just what the exact name is for this Shield is - I don't think its a Bow tie, but my good friend Mike B gifted me this knife, I carry it often, and when I do I thank you Mike, gifted knives mean an incredible amount to me - as I am sure they do to all you too :-)..neat shield, simple yet very eye catching imo......

My Gold Shield that isn't often see on a 1960's Old timer....

Another version of the Federal - slimmer and slightly more elongated...still a very nice shield..OR is this another version of the Bomb Shield???

Is this what you would call the Bomb Shield -again, different version....

This Shield has me stumped.....

Bar Shield, plain but nice..

Recognise this ol' sweetheart Charlie?
THE classic Bomb Shield imo...

And this one ?
Yet another slightly different version on this HJ - Bow Tie?
Now in Jacks hands .....

Wow, Duncan, really nice ones there!
The first one with the Federal shield, what is that one? Could we see it opened (if it's not too far off topic for this thread)?
That Primble with the bomb is just lovely.

...but this one is the coolest! What is it? Could you post more info, or tell me in a PM?
Bar Shield, plain but nice..

AHA!!
THIS.....was the photo I was looking for while I was posting up the individual ones above - I was looking for the Shield on the Ward cattle Knife - I am sure its Utica Bone, just lovely sporting a different shield - to me this looks to be a "thinking outside the box" instead of an acorn - it looks to me as a Oak Leaf...3rd from the right - bottom row.

The other knife I was looking for ( Fausto has this one now ) is this very cool Kutmaster - with a barbell shield - dog bone shield? 5th form the right - top row.

A simple bar sinister but it nicely balances the rococo bolster on my favorite Barlow.
(Since I had to give my Blackwood sheepsfoot Charlow to my son.)
This is a delightful thread, the Shield is one of the first things I notice on a knife.

I traded for this GEC SFO just to own a knife with the Ole Jack shield (well, the knife ain't half bad either). OH

Do advertising shields count?
The tang stamp narrows it down to c. 1917 - 1946.
Anybody know when the Wall Rope Works people commissioned this knife? I'm stumped, any help would be appreciated.

Great selection of shields and bone, such great looking all of them. Third right bottom row the oak leaf is a shield I always appreciate when i see.
I an glad you carry the old Eagleton that what are meant to.

Mike

Here are some of my favorites. I like the Bluegrass/Belknap Hardware one because I'm from Louisville, the federal shield on the Erickson seems a little unusually shaped, maybe he cut it out himself? The double bomb on the Oeser is one of my favorites, and being an avid poker player I enjoy the spade shaped one on the Ken Coats.

You can't, I already registered that name. However they do give a kind of misty, nostalgic, look that sometimes works.
As in your pic of that old scout.
