Hello all,

I would have put this in Knife Laws but I already know its OK to send a blade to Sweden. I just have to put garden tool/camping tool bla bla bla

My question is to those of you that have shipped a blade to Sweden.

What was your est. shipping cost? I have a SAR5 that I am concidering shipping to a fellow in Sweden. I have never shipped a blade out of country and just dont know if there is a hassle or if shipping will eat a hole in my account?

Thanks in advance to any who can help:thumbup:

Something just doesnt feel right with this....lol Here is his reply......This is a potential Ebay buyer.....seems more like a craigslist scam to me.....

His response

"Hi Kris,
thanks for your time and effort!

Sorry about the delayed reply, I just now talked to a friend at UPS here
in Sweden and I can initiate the shipping from here alot cheaper than
shipping from the US, I think he gets a employee discount.
UPS will pick it up from your address, and I will pay you in advance,
either by Ebay sans the shipping, or directly over Paypal.
You will get a UPS number from me to call and state to UPS for pickup at
your address.

I understand and agree that once you hand over the blade to UPS, you are
not responsible for what happens in customs, they are.

So all you need to do it wait for me to send you the UPS shipping code
and then give them a ring when you are ready to ship it.
As soon as you have talked to UPS I'll send the payment so that you have
it before you ship the blade.

Would that be okay for you?

If so I need your address and phone number for UPS to get ahold of you.

I need to go out for dinner with my girl now, and I'll be back in
approximately two hours.
You can always reach me on my cell at 0046-70 645 79 16.

Many thanks!

best,
Andy"

I must be stupid. What is it in his e-mail that smells like a scam?

I checked the UPS site and there is the option for someone with an account to eat the shipping cost if someone want to send them a package. They just notify UPS through their website and let UPS do a pickup from the sender. Not sure if I am making myself clear.

But then again if you don´t feel comfortable with the deal, back off. I have backed out of deals because there has been an even slightest discrepancy in someones communication with me.

For most of us knife collecting is not a business, it should be fun.

I hope that everything works out allright.

I hate to say it....But I have posted ads on Craigslist and other classified sites and get flooded with people saying they will arrange for pick up bla bla bla...and have read and received warnings against doing so.

I was not saying this was a scam...I was simply asking if anyone has been scammed with a similar request.....

I know we can arrange for UPS/Fed Ex to do pick ups. I am just trying to feel the situation and get input from others have had similar experiences before jumping the gun.

I have read on the forums how folks/blade collectors get a bad wrap over seas....I am not at all saying anything bad or out of line here. Just trying to cover my ass, havent been ripped off yet and I dont plan on it.

Moved to GB&U.
Many countries honor the USPS insurance. Your post office can actually check that. For 2 to 3 days you should be able to send the knife insured to Sweeden for around 40 bucks give or take 5 depending upon the insurance value.

ETA: Figured it out....and all it took was a little reading...who woulda though....lol

Thanks Bastid,

Sorry was not sure where to put this.

Now I need to figure out the appropriate customs form. Thinking its the 2976??

Anyone know the right one, I have searched USPS and came up with 3 different forms??

I went ahead and sold him the blade, just trying to figure all this other stuff out so I can get it out of here:D

Thanks again

I never ship over seas without tracking, USPS International Express provides it,
International priority does not...
If a Paypal issue comes up and You do not have tracking, You will be boned.....
Express for a SAR5 with insurance would be in the $35 range....

Just figured that out the hard way. I issued a refund and am over this crap. Its funny when you call PayPal twice in a row and cant understand a word they are saying or better yet what country they are in and get hung up on twice. I am really debating canceling my paypal account. Grrr....Ok shot of whiskey down the hatch....
