Shipping insurance

Even some knife makers have their knife listed with insurance being included in the price, which means nothing since they are responsible for the knife getting delivered, and in the event of a lost shipment, there is no rule that the buyer needs to wait for some insurance claim to get resolved.

It means the maker is disclosing that they buy insurance. I don’t know why you’d have a problem with that, unless the maker gave two prices one with insurance and one without.

The rules are not complicated.

A seller doesn't have to insure the items they are shipping...but if they are lost in transit or stolen before delivery to the buyer, it's their loss...not the buyer's.

If the sale was not conducted via PayPal G&S, (which affords the buyer protection in the event of non-receipt), and the seller refuses to honor his or her responsibility to refund the buyer, they will forfeit their membership here.

This may be of little consolation to the buyer who is out their money, but then they should have done their due diligence up front before deciding to pay in a manner which does not protect their investment.

There is a reason for our rules, and there is a reason why a link to "best practices" is listed at the top of each page within the Exchange.

We cannot protect you once the horse has left the barn.
