Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this... But here it is.
Has anyone had problems shipping overseas?
I have a buyer in Italy wanting to buy a knife, but I'm not sure about doing this. I've heard that customs sometimes does funny things, and some people I see refuse to ship to certain countries.
Thoughts?

I just sent one to Italy last at the end of last week. I was able to send it first class for 16.00 cheaper then priority and it will take the same amount of time. I marked it as a hand held garden tool. i have not heard any thing yet but the USPS said 6-10 days. If i hear anything I will up date with the info. Doug

Agree with the labeling as TOOLS. All my knives are delivered to me labeled TOOLS and customs hasn't one-upped me until now (touch freakin wood!!!). For extra safety have an unofficial 'arrangement' with your local customs people :)

I receive parcels from the US on an almost weekly basis and have done so for several years. I've done countless international deals and never had any problems. I have received knives from all english speaking countries and a fair few others and sent knives to as many if not more different countries. I once sent a knife to Russia and it took a while to pass through customs but to and from the states is never a problem. The last knife i sent to the US took three days to arrive i think.

Sent to me, Doug. :)
Not received it yet, but sure is too early.
Normal time go from one week to four weeks.
If you have to send small things First Class is a good way, better if you have put a value under 50. With this little trick the envelope don't have to go through the "gate" of the italian custom. Sometimes this is the fastest way.
Mountainwinds, I can't talk for all the Italians but I can tell you that we suffer for a very lazy Postal Service.
I don't have any real problems (= lost knives), but one year ago a Browning Competition take three months to be delivered to me.
So tell your Italian buyer to be advised that a severe delay is not the rule but could happen.
With a trackable shipping you have a proof of your sending to show to your buyer
If you have any question, ask me. :)
