Shipping time.

For sure; if the buyer wants the equivalent of retail customer service they should shop retail.

I've only got a few knives on here but all of the sellers sent them within a couple days and told me the tracking #s.

If you're selling something here though once that ad goes up it should be packed and ready to ship. None of that we'll I have to find a box somewhere first and then the car's out of gas so I can't drive to the post office till next week when my cheque comes in kinda stuff.

I go to work before the post office opens and get home after the post office closes so my only opportunity to hit it is at lunch which is effected by daily activities. There are no chit reasons beyond my laziness that I can't get to the PO right this second granted I don't sell much, but I don't get excited when some one doesn't right this second either.

The answer there is to just let the buyer know your situation before taking their money. As long as everyone is on the same page there should be no problem. It is not the time some much as leaving the person not knowing what is going on. Of course someone may want it immediately and in that case yours might not be the best purchase for them.

This is a ? not a statement
I do all my shipping old school-taking it to the counter and paying, but isn't it possible to do it on line and just drop it in the box these days?

Yes. You can print the shipping label and pay for the shipping online. Then just drop it in the mailbox or hand it to your mailman.

Yep, just create a USPS account or do it through Paypal. I have a stack of (free) various sizes of boxes on hand so I can usually drop off packages at any time of day.

I would like some opinions on this subject. If I sell a member something, as soon as I am paid for the item I let the buyer know when I plan on shipping it to them, usually the next day. If there are any delays within the timeframe that I give for shipping I will let the buyer know immediately. My question is , if you purchase an item and you don't get any shipping information for 3 or 4 days and when you ask the seller about it they tell you they have been busy and they haven't shipped yet but they will soon, would you consider that acceptable?

That's too long. I normally ship next business day. Anyone shipping things out more than a few times a year should really consider a USPS account. Not only can I print my postage online and drop it at the post office 24/7, it's actually a bit cheaper than if I paid at the post office.

I keep a large stock of Small and Medium flat rate boxes, so I can use the 24 hour USPS lobby machines. As soon as I get the money, I want the item gone with tracking. What freaks me out as a seller when USPS chooses to ship in trapezoid and not a straight line. I've seen 2 days become 5 and items have come back to my city twice having me thinking I put my own address on the package. They do always arrive, but USPS can be a nailbiter way to ship sometimes.

Not acceptable, like others have stated, a good line of communication is really the only way to ensure both parties are happy with the deal. I've also sold here through PM's. If I can't ship the knife for a few days. I will not accept funds until I can ship. That's to let the buyer know it's their knife and I'm not some flake that will back out of a deal. Once funds have been received, I print the shipping label, box up the knife and send a pic with the tracking number stating when it will be dropped in the mail. Once it's dropped, I'll send a pic of the acceptance receipt that has the weight on it. It's a pain sometimes, but so far no one has had any complaints.

Hell no. I just think about how I want to be treated when I buy something. A buyer should not have to wait days for shipping details only to be told, "I'm busy". Eff that.
